You're acting as if Nesta quit Lazio, it was quite the opposite really.. Lazio where in a state of financial crisis, much more so than ours during Calciopoli.. They're future fundamentally depended on A. New ownership (Lotito) and somewhat just as important B. raising revenue, how can you attack Nesta's loyalty when Lazio as a financial identity had no choice to sell him.. E.g if you were bankrupt would you keep your prised Bentley when you have no money to buy food to eat?

Nesta helped Lazio a lot more than you are giving credit for and I don't think you understand the exact nature of Lazio's woes in this very time period you are talking about
There were two options for Lazio back then. To sell Stam+Stankovic or to sell Nesta.
In both cases they would have gotten the same money. Stankovic refused to leave while Nesta "wanted to stay but was willing to leave in order to help the team".
Nesta's agent was really active on the market that summer and the transfer was finally done on the very last day of the mercato when Berlusconi offered to Lazio and Nesta more than any other team.

I believe that Nesta would have prefered to stay if everything was ok in Lazio, but i really doubt that he left only to help his beloved team.
It's impossible to prove but i'm with Osman on this. I'm sure Nesta would have left Milan if they were sent to serie B.

I'm not saying Nesta wouldn't have left if Milan were relegated like us, in fact I think he would have.. What I'm objectifying to is the attack on Nesta's loyalty to Lazio

I started writing the same thing last night but then i realized that this thread is supposed to show how bad Thuram was and how great are all the others. That's why i gave up.
No, actually. This thread was for praising Thuram at first.

But seriously, I have no idea how you can even like this player, Alen. Each to his own I suppose.

Beh, i really couldn't care less about Thuram. I only rate him very high as a footballer. He's one of the best 5 defenders i saw in my life and he's a legend of the French football (even European football).
I don't consider him a Juve legend, though.

But i also don't hate him, like some of you guys do. The only ex-Juve player i can't stand is Pippo Inzaghi.

It's the same with Zambrotta. I don't like him and i don't dislike him either. But i can't say that he wasn't one of the best full backs Europe has produced.
( i will cheer against him and swear at him all the time, though :D )

I can't stand the traitors ( we know whom they are).

In terms of the best defenders I've seen through my lifetime? Hmm, tough.

1) Maldini
2) Baresi (Just because he wasn't totally fit during '94)
3) Cannavaro/Nesta
4) Ayala
5) Hierro

But that's just me and perhaps I'm forgetting somebody. In terms of top right-backs, Thuram would be up there for sure.

All the best to him and with his health. I have a lot of respect to the man as a player, as he was just great in what he does and always gave his all to this team.
