Would you say that that Scotland team bore any resemblance to the team that drew 2-2 with the Faroe Islands? (and had to come back from 2 goals down)....almost the same players.

Surely you must accept that some teams can raise their game through good motivational management skills, big occasion, etc

Christian Dailly, Scotland's man of the match is also out through yellow cards. We don't have any cover for his position

We can only wait and see what happens, but my opionion hasn't changed.
They played way below themselves against the Faroe Islands. You can't get out what isn't in there!

Scotland will not go through:down:...although we will go down fighting hard and with pride
That's what the Irish used to say ...

Oh you're such a prick.
So its personal insults now is it?
What a lovely person you are erik.... But then your a mod so as usual you can say and do anything you like... grow up

Always try to look like you're objective and know everything about football,
I dont try to be objective at all i have my views and express them as i see fit... yo udont like it dont read it.
As for saying i know everything about football.... when exactly have i said that... as ive said many times im jus a fan i know very little about the game... football isnt where my expertise lies
If others want to give that impression thats up to them but i have never said im a footballing expert.

the first instance I see you comment on a game that involves a British nation
If you knew anything about british nations or me you would know i have no intrest in scotland and couldnt care whether they go through or not.
The only thing that even slightly makes me think scotland going through would be a good thing is the possibility of us meeting them later and being the ones to knock them out.
The fact is they put up a good performance... credit where credit is due.

you lower yourself to the standards of calling the opponent "pampered primadonas".
That actually wasnt my intended comment however it was the words of a dutch fan being interviewed on leaving the stadium and i thought it was quite apt to what we had jus seen.
The fact is you have a great squad ... but all the in fighting and other bullshit that surrounds them stops them from performing . One day when they actually realise if they want to win anything they need to play as a team and stop trying to show off there individual talents and pull the bottom lip in then they will be a force so yes i see them as pampered primadonas... sorry but thats my opinion... or am i not allowed my own opinion in your little world.

Why the façade, Paul? Don't bother.
dont bother what??
No facade .. you read what i say how you like .. you wanna call it something go ahead.

You dont like what i write dont read it or jus wield your power and ban me

I saw the NETERLANDS- SCOTLAND game it was really great scotland attacked and put so much presure on holland in the first 25 min and after that defended which was a VERY good strategy!! the second half belonged to Holland BY FAR!! Seedorf had a GREAT chance davids headed the ball fiercly then Van der Vaart was right there to tap it in but the Keeper amazingly held it right before he could have!

    Spain - Norway 2 - 1

It's clearly positive that the fighting spirit and determination won in the end but otherwise there isn't a lot positive to point to. First of all, the gameplan just didn't work. At the very beginning, it was looking good, but Norway got organized after 20 minutes and there was nothing to be done about it. Their midfield and defence combined to create an almost impenetrable zone on their half of the field. Torres was clearly a wrong choice, completely invisible apart from that early chance that he missed. All the pressure was delivered through the wings and not very efficiently I might add. Exterberria did fine on a few occasion pushing it in but for the most part he was inefficient. But the big negative was the center of midfield, absolutely deserted, neither Baraja nor Albelda made their presence felt, not offensive, not defensively. The Norwegian goal was a fluke and they did really well to cultivate the few counter attacks they were afforded. The Spanish defence was a little shaky, and the defensive mids did nothing. I blame Puyol for that first goal, he didn't hold his man. I would say Raul was brilliant in the little space he got, always dangerous and couldn't do anything more.

The second half started as the first ended, very little to be done about Norway, with players lined up in the box, Raul was heavily outnumbered and the wingers tried crossing which was no good. At this time Reyes really shone, as virtually the only spark for Spain, he dribbled and dummied to take the ball forward, sadly it all came to things as there just wasn't enough movement to finish properly. Puyol also helped out from his deep role, some crosses were not bad and his possession was felt. Finally, Torres came off, about time, for Valeron. I can't say I really appreciated his presence much, didn't really make an impact at all. But then Vicente and Joaquin were given a shot and it started looking better. At this point, the Norwegians were exhausted and just stacked up at the edge of the box to parry the Spanish attacks. A lot more chances came along suddenly, unfortunately they were wasted. Raul finally got loose in the box but he missed his lob, huge disappointment there. Once there was about 15 minutes left, it was one wave after another, a lot of the pressure culminating in shots being fired but the Norwegian keeper was terribly solid and the ball wouldn't cross the line. Finally the breakthrough, Joaquin crossing swiftly for Baraja to deflect. The move was too fast and the box was too crowded for the defence to stop, and it couldn't have been more deserved. There was plenty of time to score another but it wasn't to be.

Baraja - invisible, poor set pieces.

    Albelda - ditto

Exteberria - inefficient, he got a looot of time on the ball, over half the Spanish pressure was run down the right wing but only on a few occasions he managed to make it count.

Reyes - slow starter but once he got into gear, he really made his presence felt, a lot of talent on display here, great dribbling and one who found a way where others failed

Raul - excellent 1st half, considering the very few chances he got and how heavily he was marked. Towards the end he was let loose a little more and just failed to capitalize twice, which was disappointing

Torres - extremely poor performance, one shot on goal, otherwise he was completely marked out of the game

Spain are going to pay for conceding that goal. Norway is a tough tough place to get a result and its REALLY cold there.

    Norway will go through.

Martin... was his performance that bad or was it purely that he was marked out of it

He was completely marked out. Not so much his fault (perhaps) as it was the coach's for choosing him for this game. Either way, assuming someone else would have done better and at least gotten involved in the game, I can't rate his performance very high. He missed an "easy" one on one with the keeper, which proved very costly.

I don't think this is a big enough lead for Spain...they don't shine on the road and might find the cold north this time of year a little uncomfortable .

And it seems Spain always lacks the great leadership to win anything of value. Saez bummed out today, against a Norwegian team playing really well on the day, but also a group of players much inferior to his own.

its actually not REALLY cold but your right its a very TOUGH place to play many skinheads there but i think the officials could keep it under control and Spain should be through by Wednesday. most likely 1-0 for Spain HOPEFULLY i cant be sure?

Skinheads? While the Norwegian players are generally *very* physically fit, they're not normally dirty if that's what you're implying. They play a different game because that's the only way they can succeed, set pieces being the holy grail but I don't think it's unfair just because it's different. Less attractive certainly, but every team plays whatever tactic suits them best to win.

    That's really true.
Inaki Saez should learn something from that match.
Spain against the walls, maybe that's the best title for the match.
Norway walls were built by strong tall defender and a great gk, Johnson!whatta great saves he made there! Credit point for the gk!
See this statistic, Tiros A Puerta (Shots on goal):
    ~Espana : 30
    ~Norvega : 4
Spain only scored twice from 30 shots!
Awesome defence by the Norwegian. And 1 goal by Iversen would mean something when they play home in Oslo.;)

But as a fan, I want Espana will go to Portugal next year! :)
    Viva Espana!
