Did Barca get slaughtered with their team when they played offensive football? No they won 2 league titles and a CL.

Though the key to success would be having an absolute class DMF who can protect the defense ( al la Gattuso/Makalele) That's why I favour Gilberto over Frings. I'm still not sure eactly what role will Frings have.

You dont need to have two dmfs, you can work with two box to box midfielders, but they have to know what they are doing. As long as they track back and help the defence, its fine. Utd havent got a proper holding mid....and they are doing quite well.

La Liga is not Serie A and Frings and Almiron is not Xavi/Iniesta and Deco.
I see your point, I just don't envisage a Juventus team playing such an offensive formation, this is not FM. Either that or people are mistaking what kind of players Frings and Almiron actually are.

why is it that when anything that is not typically associated with Juve's football is in the air, poeple go the the "this is not fm" excuse. DId I mention FM? No then don';t bring it up.. How can you know if a formation will not work (regardless of the player, unless it's pretty obvious that the playerss are crap and won't fit im) if it is not tried? Nothing remains the same and there is always a first time. by the way nice of you to ignore the CL part. Or do you think winning the CL is not important? (which in my opinion is more important than winning Serie A)

Frings is world class. He's a different type of player to Xavi and Iniesta but he's one of the best two-way midfielders in Europe right now. I'm not saying we should play that formation but you seem to be underrating Frings.

I like both Frings and Diego, but I just wonder how well they will fit into the Juventus system.

Seems like we have another "excite me" versus "results" debate. I am such a sucker for these although I am part of the small majority that enjoys watching "boring" football. I just love the Italian way. Guess that is why I am a Juventus fan.

We are not even in the CL next season and Frings will be another year older at that point if we were to finish top 4. I didn't say it would not work (although you could argue what 'work' would actually mean in terms of results and final league position), simply that it was not a tactical approach reminiscant of Juventus. No we don't have to play defensive football and we never have no matter what some say, more pragmatic or conservative mixed with great skill in the wide areas and up front. However I look at the most successful Juve teams and see a player who was a destroyer, a disrupter of play who gave the ball to better players and Frings would be wasted in this role in my opinion.

Are u drunk.. How can u say its offensive when it has 2 Defensive Midfielder there!!??
I don't think we are looking at the same team. Almiron is not a defensive midfielder at all. I also rate Frings a lot higher than just being a defensive midfielder, he is more of a box-to-box midfielder.
