Portsmouth Set To Sign Sorin

Portsmouth are set to complete the signing of Argentine defender Juan Pablo Sorin.

The international is set to sign for the Premiership newboys having been released by Barcelona after a short spell with the Spanish giants.

The former Lazio player was set to return to Brazilian side Cruzeiro, who he left to join Barcelona, but the club already have their quota of foreign players in their team and Sorin is also keen to stay in Europe.

Cruzeiro's vice-president Zeze Perrella explained that Portsmouth would share the ownership of the 27-year-old by paying 50% of his transfer fee (£1.27m).

Yesterday Portsmouth completed the signing of Senegal midfielder Amdy Faye from Auxerre.

Hierro In Talks Over Qatar Move

Former Real Madrid defender Fernando Hierro is in discussions over a move to Qatar.

The club concerned is Qatar SC who met with the player's representatives in Paris over the weekend.

Hierro has so far failed to find a new club after his split with the Merengues.

He won't get a work permit in England with those stupid stringent rules .. they unbelievably denied Tim Howard at first but he finally got one due to Portuguese dissidents .. it's just stupid ..

Portsmouth pah! Can't see this happening and even if it does happen, they won't be able to do much still. One player doesn't win you things.

why do you think their ambition is to win things this year?
they would be very happy to finish in the 10+ position.
and they might sign more good players.
