What are your expectations for this season?
Realistically, I'm good with a top two or three finish. I don't expect a Scudetto right away and Motta deserves time to work with a new squad. If we can challenge for the Scudetto, then even better.

I had to laugh at the end of the match. After the final whistle, the commentator in the studio came on and immediately said, "You are watching JUVENTUS" I know, bro. It's pretty fucking unbelievable.

I'll repeat the same stuff as last week.

It's not about the quality of the opposition but it's our approach that makes me absolutely convinced that we're back.

If you play like this week in week out, creating more chances per game, we are eventually going to play with more confidence against better teams

Some of the fluid passing and movements was a dream to watch

Early days but I haven't been this excited to watch JJ games in a long ass time

If there’s one thing (out of many positive things) we can take from the little we’ve seen of his work so far is that we look like we belong in 2024. We impose a fast fluid, quick passing modern game that resembles more what we see at Premier League or Bundesliga. It’s something that I’ve been wishing to see for so long.

Thank you, dude. If you can do this with a squad full of unknowns and unexperienced kids imagine if he had the best of the best at his disposal?
Given Guintoli’s past body of work unearthing gems, we could be looking at a damn good squad sooner than we think.

Best part too is that we’re seeing even further progress on Nextgen youngsters appearing in the first team from last season. And they don’t look near as lost as they did last year.

It’s amazing how much progress he’s made with this squad from what we saw in the first couple preseason matches. Impressive work thus far.

Super excited to watch us in Europe for the first time in years.

This is why I dint understand the criticism towards Giuntoli at all

The biggest change we made is on the coaching front. It's a night and day difference compared to last year.

Even if we don't win anything this season, we are absolutely on the right track and ready to cook.

There were a few times in the match commentators mentioned the players looking like they were enjoying themselves on the pitch and having fun, something we haven’t seen in years at Juve. And then a comment about how if you put Vlahovic in goalscoring positions he will score a lot of goals just like at Fiorentina. A not so subtle dig at Allegri’s time coaching Dusan :lol3:

I’m in the same boat as you as far as expectations go. Minimum is top 4, plus CL knockouts for me, and I expect us to look competitive against everyone in the league this year even if we don’t yet have the consistency to win it.

:agree:

Guintoli has also reinvigorated the squad with young, promising talent. Recognized and kept the young players in nextgen that Motta wants (given that he has made several of them a big part of the first two matches), and brought in several promising young players. Will they all turn out to be stars? Probably not… but if he hits on a couple each year, along with progress from nextgen youngsters, we’re in a great place setting up future success, especially with a hungry young rising coach in Motta.

I said quite a lot last year that we needed an outsider to clean up this mess, especially tactically and within the team's identity. Looks like we have that with Motta. He plays the players who work the hardest and impress him the most while adopting a progressive system. Even that is a good start and meeting expectations regardless of the first couple results.

Vlahović:"I'm happy for Savona's goal, the victory and the 3 points. We are definitely playing a different style of football. I was unlucky on the first day. But I'm happy for the team. The result is a consequence of our work."

I like what we are seeing so far. It's impressive how much we have changed in terms of style despite a short preseason. It's not easy to change a philosophy quickly so Motta, his staff and the players deserve credit for it.

There are things to improve on but we are playing some nice football and getting bodies in the box, which creates problems for defenders. I like that we clearly respect the opposition but want to go and play our football instead, which is the biggest change.

Bigger tests will come but it has been an excellent start.

Its very impressive what he has done with the side and how he has made some of our youngsters shine already. Savona and Mbangula are gaining in confidence in no small part due to Motta.

I like that he is laser focussed on every game and takes nothing for granted. This hopefully means the team will continue to get stronger game after game. It will be super interesting to see what he does with the team when Thuram, Weah return and with Nico, Conceicao and then Koop and maybe Sancho? Then he has all the tools he needs.
