Somehow I couldn't imagine Sarri doing a medical when we hired him...
The dude got pneumonia like 3 weeks into the season (likely from chain smoking).

While we all have enthusiasm about Motta, I think we need to be realistic and the fans and management need to be patient.

It will be a massive change in football philosophy from one of sitting deep and passive play to proactive possession based football. There will inevitably be a lengthy adjustment which will result in mistakes from playing out from the back etc. Many players will struggle to adapt - especially some of the older players.

It’s important to stay the course and be patient. This is why a squad revolution and a lengthy and productive pre season is essential.

We should not expect this team to be title contenders. A good outcome will be a top 4 finish but playing better football where the potential has a higher ceiling than what was possible under Allegri style off outdated football.

Player with high technique and the courage to execute it will set the bar for every players. That is what Motta want from his philosophy

I can see Yildiz and Soule if they can really flourish and understand Motta, they will be the kind of player that Allegri system will never birthed. If the other player can match their football IQ we can see free flowing pass and the beauty will unlock themself when the team harmony is achieve

Because the mentality to just play simple sideway and back pass basically prevent them from utilize their actual skill set. This is what Motta really hate from his players. He said this is the kind of his teammates who restricted and limit themself in his playing career

Imagine something like, even if we have prime Ronaldinho, we will rarely see our Ronaldinho nutmegging and take on his opponent one by one if he instructed to do what Kostic did under Allegri as the left wingback. We will see him battle for the ball and cross the ball aimlessly whenever he can, if he not thinking and just do as far as what he instructed by the coach. He will feel out of the place, he dont feel happy playing that kind of football and if we buy him for 100m, he will become a super massive flop

I wonder what other coaches (not just the main coaches but also all of the staff) think about what came out from Allegri's football in the last few years? Did they laugh at it, facepalming at it, did anyone take it any seriously when facing us or what?

Put yourself in other team players and coaches, "boss, we're facing JJ in the next game, what are we gonna do?" All those analysts, players etc can see that JJ played one of the worst if not the worst football in top professional level ever, maybe they couldn't even analyze JJ gameplay without laughing.

3-5-2 was fun with 3 of pirlo, vidal, marchisio, pogba in the middle. too bad we have zero players of that quality

that said, i'd also expect this team to at least try to win even matches. what we did against inda last season (i mean not even trying to win) is criminal and should never be repeated

I just don't like when we're depending on fake wingers (aka wingbacks) to provide our attacking width. Yes it can be effective, especially with top wingbacks (which we don't have), but I'd like to see us play with real wingers, on both sides, for a change.

Took him 2 years to get Bologna going but I think we are so locked into 3-5-2 that it might take longer. It would be a miracle if he won anything first year.
And it's not just the 352 system. We are locked into anti-football. I bet Allegri didn't even train with the ball half the time. The players are going to be shocked.

Even the elderly tifosi don't care anymore and just want to have fun.

We should have hired Zeman to play 2-1-7 formation.
But, but winning is all that matters!

I'm thinking it will take a few seasons before we win anything, do we have patience for that no. Will fans call for his sacking after the first season, absolutely?

I guess you're right. They probably will. Sarri won the Scudetto and was still hated and sacked.

Pirlo was the same, he won a trophy, but people hates him for the number of goals we conceded and also in the manner we lost/conceded. I expect us to concede a lot of goals, something we are not used and of course in return score a lot more too.
