Why is it we do be ter against stronger opposition? Is it easier to motivate the players? Is it that the games are usually more open? Does he pass a 'nothing to lose' attitude to the players? Something else?

Got it spot on in the second half. We completely suffocated them with our pressing and didn’t give them an inch. And yeah, his teams do tend to do better against the “bigger” clubs - but Scudetti are won in the provinces.
I just wonder if Milan is that much of a shit atm or we upped our game. They did beat both us and Inter a week ago. Napoli match will tell us more. If he wins against Nabole he might turn this poor record of draws around.

Credit to him, he has rightfully got a lot of criticism this season but he got it right today.

I liked that there seemed to be a clear tactic to get bodies in the box in attacks, which has been an issue for most of the season. We also played some nice football at times. Plus nice to see us not completely sitting back at 1-0.

First half we seemed way too open on counters, particularly down the flanks. But he second half he fixed it and we were dominant.

Performance wise, that's two good games in a row. Hopefully we keep it up but its happened so often this season that positive results are followed by dropped points.

captain obvious chimes in: this team needs to grow

just checked our draws and some relevant stats. based on the numbers we were the superior team in most cases (especially against cagliari, parma, venezia and fiorentina, those are absolutely shocking and unjust draws), we just couldn't kill the games. and we weren't dominated on either occasions, even the inda game was fairly balanced. i think that with more experience these performances could have been converted to at least 6-7 wins. whether the experience should come from the bench or the squad or both it's hard to tell

Thiago Motta praises #Mbangula : “Beyond the goal, he is a boy who is helping a lot in all game situations, he is always available, he has never been out of the team. When he has participated he has contributed a lot to the team”. #Juventus

[Nico Schira]

Thiago Motta : “With Atalanta we made many technical errors. We work every day to win, every training session. We needed a lot of work for today's match, we played a good game. I thank my boys who are growing and have achieved performances like this”

We showed determination which we often lacked or dropped after scoring.

Didn’t miss Vlahovic for a second
Yes please no more of this guy. The team lacked goals for most of the game but the gameplay was there.

And was a relief of fresh air to not see dusan giving passes to nowhere and killing plays for almost a whole game

he won a game. everyone needs to relax. even relegation battlers win games once in a while.

until her wins all games till end of season can we say the game play is truly better and vlahovic is not needed

If we had prime Drogba instead of Vlahovic we would have won half those games as well.

yeah probably. we've already discussed vlahovic's conversion rate, and the fact that he's at 3 open play goals in the league at half time is atrocious

then again, he scores a lot more per 90 in the cl. in the league: 0,2 non penalty goals per 90. in the cl: 0,67. like he was two different players against teams that sit back and in more open situations. i really have no idea whether it's down to coaching or what. cl is supposed to be the higher pressure competition too. anyway, i'm glad to see nico back and kolo muani might help too, at least there's competition.
