Very interesting, a 4 minute video must've taken 4 years of work

I love how middleeast suddenly flies to the right when they discover oil, then slowly starts going back, in another 100 they'll be where they started most porobably.

So, we have a longer lifespan and higher income than before. Didn't we all know that?
Doubtful. There are plenty of people who apparently think everything is getting worse. But there are few countries in the world today where conditions are regressing, contrary to urban legend.

Hans Rosling is amazing, let me find you another presentation he made on a similar subject, you would find it interesting, Martin.

I didn't have sound on because i'm at work, but I guess that the graph doesn't take inflation in the equation? Then this income growth shown doesn't look so impressive considering some countries almost havent moved up the ladder at all in this regard.

I don't know if it does.

this is how they should teach in schools!
But I'm not so sure I learned anything school-useful here. We basically took five minutes to read a three-dimensional chart here that presents some information in an interesting way. But is that actual learning? I don't think I came away knowing anything more than I did before the video.

That said, the presentation style is great. It even makes you feel you're learning more than you actually are. ;)

And to Martin's original point, it's a nice counterbalance to "the world is going to hell" everyday bandwagon.

How can you expect to learn when your head is full?
