Last I heard is that Van Gaal wants a sabbatical year.

So Marotta said we'll keep most of the loanees and add three quality signings. A leftwinger and rightback for sure, I guess. The other being either another fullback, a midfielder or a second striker.

Meaning right now, we can be pretty sure to be looking at the following

Buffon
Signing Bonucci Chiellini De Ceglie
Krasic Melo Aquilani Signing
Matri Quagliarella

+ one signing

Sanchez was benched like two games at the start of the season, from then on he went to being Serie A's best player of the season.

Unless those two players are amazing it looks kinda depressive.

Defensive line is all about consistency. If we get a good rightback, that isn't changed for another every half. Bonucci and Chiellini will team up better next season, i'm sure. De Ceglie is a question mark, he had grown, no way of knowing what kind of form he will return in.

I was with you, in signing only Quagliarella or Matri, but we need alternatives man. Let's say the third signing is a competent second striker, we still need quality alternatives. This season has shown that we have very little weapons, especially when one is missing, to do damage with.

You can't be sure that they'll work better. They were a pretty average pair this season. I know they should improve over time but first season of them was rather disappointing IMO. De Ceglie might be terrible again. It's just too much risk and we could easily start the next season with very weak defense, again.

I do agree we need alternatives. But those two could cost 25-30mln euros and it's too much to pay for such role. We scored many goals this season but most of the time it was either our midfield and our defense that it didn't work at all. IMO we should play 4-3-3 with wide wingers, it would give us much more options.
