I'm sorry but experience is something Juve are in no shortage of at the moment. How many players 24 or younger actually have a future at Juve right now? Bonucci and Sorenson are the only two I can think of. We have all these players in their mid and late twenties(not to mention all the 30+) who should really be nearing or at the peaks of their abilities. When was the last time an experienced player really improved noticeably at the top level? Drogba.. maybe Klose? It's the exception to the rule. Bastos is a good player but not much better than Menez. His set pieces and distance shooting are much better than the latter but at the same time he's 4 years older.

For me, personally, it doesn't make sense to spend 20m~ on a 28 yr old, especially with this injury. May as well put 10m on top of that and go for Pastore/Sanchez. What if Bastos has a bad time here and doesn't perform? Juve will be sol because the resale value of a 29 year old Bastos coming off a bad season isn't going to be much.

Anyway, the point I'm making is that we have no young players in this team coupled with a serious lack of quality. Juve have made this same mistake quite a few times in recent years I just wish they'd learn by now. When is the last time we actually went for the young player? Never, and I don't mean primavera either. We were supposed to do this during and after Serie B yet it never happened. Now we're stuck with a bunch of garbage while quite a few of the younger players we let go at the time - in favor of more 'experienced' players - are actually doing well and would walk into this shambolic disgrace of a team.

TL;DR - Let not make the same dumb ass mistakes we've been making for the last 5 years.
By experienced, I don't just mean that they have played a lot of games.

Bastos has played a decent number of CL games and has experience of playing in a side that is expecting to win every other game and challenge for the league.

What players do Juve have that actually have that sort of useful experience?

Buffon and Del Piero have it, Toni and Aquilani do to some extent.

It ain't exactly a squad packed with players who know how to win that Juve has.

I understand people being against buying players who are the wrong side of 30, but I don't see that age is a problem when signing a 27/28 year old.

Montalli (our ex staff) already talked with Di Benedetto (new Roma owner that's COMING) about Buffon and it could happen... maybe.
You can bet that Di Benedetto will make a serious attempt at Buffon. He's similar to a lot of Italian Americans. Still living off of the glory of the 06 World Cup

They aren't a guarantee, but it improves the chances of winning.

There is certainly a place for younger players, but I doubt many teams win major tournaments with an average age of less than 27 or so.

It's more likely that they win because they've played together for longer, not just because "they're older."

Dortmund basically has their youth team running the Bundesliga. They're doing it right.
