Okay, so since so many of you are in favor of selling Marchisio, who could we buy for the same amount or less, that's superior all round & that's a realistic option? Taking everything in account, will that player accept a lesser salary compared to what other richer teams could offer, would that player be prepared not to play in european competition, would that player be prepared to play for a team in turmoil & not challenge for honors for quite some time?

I like Rakitic but in not many aspects can he be compared with Marchisio. You had compared him with Poli which was a good example but Marchisio is a class above Rakitic. Mourinho rates Marchisio, many coaches rate him yet some here don't rate him at all, I find that odd at the very least.

Marchisio is definitly worth a pricetag of of +15M.
If we think that an offer of 20m eur for Marchisio must be accepted, it doesn't mean that we don't rate him at all, Gian.

If an offer of 8-10m eur comes for Marchisio, everyone will be against it, and rightfully so. But imo, there is a good amount of players who play in Marchisio's position and of similar quality and their realistic price is between 10-13m eur. Of course, it's my personal opinion, but only in Italy I see players like Inler or Thiago Motta who offer similar qualities and their realistic price is imo 10-13m eur. If you check England, France, Spain, Germany, I'm sure there are many more players of similar caliber.
Getting 20m eur for these players is almost twice their real value.

Another thing is that these kind of players don't really reach sky high prices like the attackers for example do. They are useful players, very useful, but they rarely reach +15m eur on the market, simply because there is too many of them. Only the very best DMs go higher than 15m eur.

I think Lass could offer just as much, if not more, than Marchisio and he can be bought for half of the reportedly offered 18-20m. That could leave us a nice amount for a fullback. Moggi never hesitated to sell a player if an offer higher than the evaluation arrived and if this rumor is true, our board should take example from their predecessor.

Defour, 8-12 million and he is ours, and he has to potential to be as good as Claudio (if he can stay fit for the rest if this season, he is worth the money, believe me)

I don't think we have to necessarily buy someone who costs the same or less. Add 5 more to that and you have a world class player ala Patore or Snachez. Tbh, Marchisio's just not that good and I don't think the board would mind paying higher wages for someone who can have a bigger impact....that's just good investment.

JJ: So was Zidane. He was sold for the right price. Don't be biased just because Claudio's a Juventino.
So was Zidane, what? Zidane - world class player, not Juventino. Marchisio, not world class, Juventino.

I guess many don't want an identity anymore, but I've suspected that for some time.

Not that I suppose the club will agree with this thought process either way.
