He is a decent player, hardworking despite being a playmaker. But we dont need his type of player as Momo replacement, with Aqui here, and in parts Marchisio too. Need more of an alternative to Melo.

Poli has potential, but makes even less sense then Cigarini, not only because Ciga is better, but Poli is bit like Marchisio, stuck in the between of not really being creative while not really being destructive ballwinning force enough to be the solid DM option. While Cigarini is atleast very good passer/creative.

I don't know how Cigarini is doing at Sevilla, but I like Poli more than what I've seen from Cigarini at Napoli and Parma.

On the other hand Poli would make sense, because IIRC Paratici discovered him and Delneri seemed to like him a lot since Poli was a starter for nearly the whole of last season at Samp.

And I'm merely hypothesizing here, but they could be worried about Aquilani's long term form (when was the last time he played a full season?) and injury proness.
