@Ken: IMO if DC isn't our guy this year then we need to just bit the bullet and spend the money to bring Cissokho. If not, then sure Ziegler would be good, an upgrade to DC but not WC. Either we save and spend the money on the right LB when another comes available or suck it up and spend on Cissokho/Coentrao.

It isn't going to do us any good to every year slightly upgrade each player...that shit isn't going to do us any good and eventually the money lost through the years of doing that will be astronomical. IMO this summer we really need to blow our bank account to guarantee a top 3 to get us back in CL. Every year we miss out, the teams in front of us will reap the financial benefits of CL and only improve their squads more and more while we just "slightly upgrade".

It's time to go balls out gung-ho pre FM09 style...Either we do it now or it will take a miracle to get us back to where we want to be.

All top 3 teams, well actually this year for the last time the top 4 teams will have a minimum of 25m from CL to upgrade and improve their squads while we put all of our eggs into Pirlo's, Matri's, Bastos's, and Quag's baskets.

Don't even get me started on Motta and Amauri.

To really fix this squad, we'd need a huuuuuuge transfer budget, even though I agree we shouldn't just keep crawling forward. We should bite the bullet and spend this year, get people excited about going to the new stadium, etc. We should really get 2 or 3 excellent players, stars, to wear our black and white. We need CL football/money badly and the new stadium and all that seems a good year to start getting this show back on the road if you ask me. Let's just hope the Agnelli's agree. :xfinger:

That's quite realistic if you ask me, I don't ask for more. Banega and Benzema are champions and Beck is a prospective one. Ziegler is a decent, cheap alternative to De Ceglie.

That is the team I want, it would get us top 3.

Do you expect Marotta to spend more than 62 M? I don't. We are in the red financially, don't forget that. Quality over quantity is the way to go, so 2-3 champions will do it. And yes, I believe that Vargas and Banega are champions.

Unfortunately for us, Marotta is no Moggi. 12 M on Martinez, 2,5(+7,5 for redemption) for Pepe and Motta testifies to that.

He made too many mistakes IMO. We would have been much better this year with this squad:

Melo-Aquilani
Krasic-Diego-Giovinco
Trezeguet

Diego was decent, we should have kept him. Same thing with Caceres even if his buying price was high.
We would actually be in the top 4 with such squad, I dare say.
