Another thing to ponder -- Marotta has said several times in the past that continuity is key. By hiring Mazzarri, not only do we change the manager but we also change the formation and style of play.

I'm not sure he'd want to do that, so Conte might fit his thoughts a bit more. Unless all that continuity stuff was a bunch of lies.

I doubt Quag will be as good as he was this season. Matri, despite starting well, is also up in the air.

People will get angry for me saying this, but Amauri started out very well at the club, too.
I have a strange feeling that one of them will fail hard and the other will not perform the same that he did this season. And probably that's why we need an world class second striker. No matter what, I'd choose a beast LW instead of a SS. But we need both!

P.S.: And probably we'll end up with none.

Take the 25 million that will be wasted on Quag and Matri and buy a world class player. Also, Agnelli has been such a disappointment. The guy is supposed to know a thing or two about football but he goes for Mazzarri :sergio: God help this team.

Quaq will always be good he did after all have a nack for scoring wonder goals. Matri? he's a lil old and is just now starting to hit form, reminds me of amauri and I'm scared he wont continue that run of form.

I'd keep Matri though since he's a goalscorer and we need a new SS. Quag has never scored more than 13 goals before. Quag is the perfect sub for us as long as we end up signing one good SS. Luis Suarez would have been great for us, too bad we never approached him.

How about that 4.5 million that is already payed?

The way I see it, with that much money spent on his "loan" , He's our player. It's not even an option..

if we dont buy either of quags or matri, what can we get for 25 million?

not that it will happen but i would still like to see something like this...

krasic-----giovinco
----benzema

and play with aquilani, melo and marchisio as the three man midfield. Benzema may be loaned...try to find a Zalayeta type super sub for peanuts, non italian, and find a two sided player to cover krasic and giovinco, not Pepe.

Making the decision on losing out that much is not easy as you say.. although we got a guy in charge who sold Diego for a 10mil loss!
Still I'm pretty certain Quag is here to stay.

Probably. But what about the other option players? How about Pepe and Motta?

We should just eat those loan fees and get someone else.

It's easier to skip on Motta and Pepe. the reamining 7.5mil for Pepe is still too much and he can be replaced with another player for that sum.. but we should see Quag as a 10mil signing right now.. not many players can fill his spot for that amount.

I don't like that way of thinking. 10M can be used for someone better. We don't even know if Quag can return to his best after this injury.

Yeah, I'm at doubt about Quag too. A big part of what made him so good was him being so dynamic and quick. One step behind could equal a missed goal, he's no Del Piero where he can just adapt his game.

Rather put that money towards someone like Aguero or even Benzema now that Higgy is back.

In that case it's better to forget about signing Matri then. I mean, I'm not even sure with the current state of club, how much of a chance we stand in getting a player like Aguero or Tevez, but with our limited budget and doing a little math, signing Quag would be cheaper and better choice.

At the end of the day, Marotta's got something else in his mind and I don't see him skip on neither of these players.. with the amount payed for their loans, They are pretty much donedeals.

Matri(14),Quagliarela(10),Van Der Wiel(12),Bastos(14),Sahin(20)+ Bale(40)/Neymar(35)/Aguero(40) = 110 mln E :)

  • Buffon
  • Van Der Wiel - Bonucci - Chiellini - Bastos
  • Melo - Marchisio
  • Krasic - Sahin - Bale
  • Matri

I don't like Bastos for LB but it seems he will be our LB i would go for : Cissokho/Baines

How can you say signing Quag would be the better choice when he just suffered a severe injury?

Doing a little math, his loan fee is already lost. We have to eat that regardless of whether we sign him or not, so it's nonsensical to say we should sign Quag because we've already paid for his use. You might as well do that for Pepe and Motta as well.
