Yeah it's frickin annoying and they lost a lot of readers because of it. Which browser do you use? You can install addons which blocks the videoplayer.

I use Chrome at the moment so if anyone here can recommend any add-ons that would be orgasmic. It's bad enough that the video plays on their front page, but to make it exponentially worse they make it so every time you click on a story it starts playing again!
