They are making insane profits. They got so many players for less than a million and later sell them for tons of money. They signed Hulk from Japan for similar amount of money.
False. They got Hulk's half from Japan for 5M. But, for example, they've signed Cissokho for 150.000€ and Pepe for a similar price. However, Pepe and Cissokho were already in Portugal.

Yeah but it is quite odd that most Porutguese clubs (Porto and Benfica mainly) make so much profit on their talents. I mean look at Benfica for example they signed Ramires for something around 7m and sold him for 22m in the summer to Chelsea.

They have some wonderful scouting program in Portugal. Fernando from Porto was signed for 300K for example, another great player who will get sold for much more.

I didn't say that portuguese clubs don't make profit of their players.

The lost of Ramires was huge for Benfica and he was just sold because of pre-deals with Benfica and his manager (that's why he came to Portugal so cheap).

The last part is very true, but we, portuguese fans, are getting worried about the portuguese players who are being left behind the south americans. I think the two best examples of our scouting program are Hulk and David Luiz. They came from the second japanese league and the third brazilian league, respectively.

Porto and Benfica are both in a better position to buy these young talents at the moment. What they're doing shouldn't be hard to replicate if the right attention is given, the Porto system is excellent, probably the best in the world.

I'm still pissed about James.

IMO, Porto's management is the best in the world (after Barça). They have the portuguese Moggi as president. :D

On the other hand, Benfica's scouting program > Porto's one. Benfica just has a shitty management that doesn't enjoy the best deals. Benfica found James before Porto, btw.

Maybe I mixed him up with some of those, as I know they had players for less than 500k who went aboard for tons.

But 50% for Hulk is low too. 150k for Cissokho is ridiculous.

Part of the scouting system is actually getting the player, you're right about Benfica finding him first. Do you have info on the Benfica scouts? I know the Porto ones work ~8 hours a day watching football from all over the world.

The Bulgarian hitman, who is United's top scorer with season with 20 goals, has become frustrated at increasingly being overlooked in favour of Javier Hernandez.

Berbatov watched from the bench as Hernandez struck a brace in Tuesday's Champions League win over Marseille and his unhappiness has not gone unnoticed in Italy.

Juve, along with Genoa, have spoken to Berba's agent and, with the player's contract due to expire in 2012, the pair are willing to pay £9 million for his services. (The Sun)

Ohhhh, Berbatov. Poetry in motion when that man receives the ball. It's a shame he's usually pretty lazy.

Did I see someone mention Aguero in these last few pages? :weee:

It's that time of the year where we get our hopes up again, isn't it? :touched:
