so signing a bunch of below par players not a laughing stock of the football world?
No but seriously how in any way would that turn out to be a good idea? Come on man this is nonsense. If he's so inept at his job that he's asking random fans opinions then why the fuck does he do it for a living?

Unless that forum was Juventuz.

Sorry, but the players he has brought in apart from Bonucci have been mediocre. You go on about how it's Marotta's job to handle these dealings, but at the same time it's his job to convince us of his abilities.

So far, he has not. Usually I give these guys a full window but this time I can't. It's been too mediocre and nonsensical.
Absolutely.

Good moves:

- Bringing back Lanzafame
- Motta
- Bonucci
- Storari (although that is questionable seeing as he never offloaded Manninger and I thought that was why we bought him in the first place, so now we have two excellent back up keepers which isn't much use to us).

Bad moves:

- buying Martinez for 12m
- Pepe
- Offloading Tiago for only 500k
- Paying Camoranesi to leave for more then we sold Tiago for FFS
- Offloading Ekdal and Poulsen creating CM shortages.
- Selling Giovinco for 3 million
- Not selling Brazzo, Grosso, Zebina, Gygera.
- Even contemplating the 16 million euro bid for Diego.
- Wasting time considering buying players even more mediocre then Pepe and Martinez
- Inability to finalise deals for Krasic (should have been easy), Elia or Bastos.
- More time wasting on Agnelli's wet dream, Dzeko which was clearly not going to happen as Wolfsburg had told us several times.

On reflection its clear that Marotta's campaign has been terrible. Not only has he been unable to sign players worthy of starting for us, he's overpaid on mediocre players and was ripped of on several departures as if we're footballs biggest charity. We now end up with a variety of new players who really don't improve us to any dramatic effect that we were expecting and new found and previously existent deficiencies in important positions (CM, LB and both wing positions). Quality is yet to arrive, mediocrity remains and we're leaking funds on these ugly transfers. And how many days does he have to redeem himself? He is not going to sign Elia, Krasic and a left back of any quality before the transfer window closes.

Marotta is evidently shit. Dump this guy before he damages us further.

Van der Vaart is not a true centre midfielder. He can play there in a 3 man midfield like he has done for Holland and Madrid at times but in a 4-4-2? I don't think so.

Not sure why the Jenas thread was closed. I guess most people here have never seen him play and decided to write him off because he doesn't start for Tottenham but he's a good player when he stays fit. Definitely an upgrade from Poulsen, Ekdal and Tiago.

I wouldn't place Motta and Lanzafame in the "good" category yet. They are still unknown entities to an extent. Although, the former wasn't too good last season.

Bonucci and Storari are the only signings that look good to me.

I don't think he's all that great. He isn't better than Poulsen, IMO.

But the Jenas thread should be reopened as the rumors persist.

I worry about the holding player in a Van der Vaart-Marchisio midfield. Especially with a defense which is completely unknown.

He would be a good squad player though if we can use him as rotation for either Diego/Marchisio.

Everything was denied by our board.

Gotta say that I like the look of Motta. Bonucci is virtually as untested as he is. Lanza is a good sub for a low price, has potential. He isn't a team changing transfer but that's not what I would define as a good transfer.

He did fine in the back two of a 4-2-3-1, actually i would go as far as saying that bringing him on for De Jong against Uruguay won Holland the match.

Jenas would be an awful move for Juventus.

Bringing him on for De Jong did change the match against Uruguay, and yes he did well there.

Though i'm not sure about his capability to play that position over an extended period of time.

Come on, you guys really exaggerating and judge Marotta even before we can see how this team can do. And by just guessing our transfer budget.

About buying Martinez and Pepe, i wouldn't say it is a bad transfer.. I don't understand some logic here who wants Elia just because he has dazzling skill against Japan and Denmark in WC. Statistics wise Martinez even have goal scoring record better than Elia (while some of you keep using the fact that Bundesliga is an open league where Dzeko or Diego can score goals for fun).. And for Krasic also, some of you made him looks like he will be a guaranteed success here.. and made Pepe looks like shit... Do you even consider how much money available, we just spend 2.5m for Pepe this year. Do CSKA allow that kind of fee to buy Krasic? Or Do Hamburg let us pay in several installments, last time i read they laugh off about our 13m offer for Elia

As far i see we just spend little this summer: Pepe for 2.5m, Martinez for 3m (12m in 4 installments, Bonucci like only 2m+3m after reducing Criscito and Almiron value, Motta 0.5m while we get Tiago 0.5m, Moli 4m, Ekdal 3m, Poulsen 5.5m, Giovinco 3.5m IIRC). Basically we don't even spend our money. Do you remember about how we spend on Melo which it said that was our next season budget. I don't money how much money available for Marotta but i won't judge him now.

And from what i see he do his job. First, he clean all the dead woods cause from Secco jobs (Tiago, Poulsen), Second, he wants to regenerate our team by buying some young players for Primavera, Third he's looking for any club to buy our old, uneeded, high earners players (Camo, Grosso, Sali, Zebina)

Last year just because we bought some high profile players like Melo, Diego.. And add to them the '06 WC winners like Canna and Grosso people are all optimist Secco are the MAN. But in the end, it all failed.. Secco just give us a glimpse of spark in summer transfer without even thinking the plan or will the players cohesive when work together under Ferrara

I can't really be bothered right now so I'll be short.

- Martinez scores more goals then Elia because Martinez is a SS. That's right we're paying 12m to play a decent support striker as a left wing. Elia is a much better option.
- Krasic is also a more proven player then Pepe. He's played well in the CL and WC and Pepe played ok in Serie A. He shows much more class with the ball, and is quicker. If Pepe was so sufficient how come Marotta's been trying to sign Krasic and Elia in the first place??
- Poulsen should not be considered dead wood. He's useful, and without him we now have a CM deficiency.
- Buying a few high profile players each year is how great teams are built on a tight budget. If we bought two or three big names this year with our complete budget I would have been satisfied. Its quality not quantity during the mercato.
- You want to talk about young talent? Ekdal and Giovinco are gone!
- We got ripped off severely on the Tiago deal. Should have been around 5m.
- We SPENT money to offload Camoranesi and haven't ridden ourselves of Brazzo, Grosso etc. This is testimony to his inability to negotiate. Its unbelievable how many negotiations he's started and hasn't been able to finish. And the ones he did finish we got ripped got ripped off on. Namely Tiago and Giovinco. If he expected 6m from the Tiago deal how did he manage to only get 0.5m?

The guy is useless. Really can't wait to see him fired.
