Would he play as a CM?

Whenever he was brought in, he played alongside Van Bommel behind Robben - Sneijder - Kuyt during the WC for the Netherlands NT.

Would he play as a CM?

He can play there quite well actually and since this team seems to have some serious trouble breaking down defenses he can go forward when the team attacks and needs some extra creativity around the box.

I noticed against Meelan that just like last season when Juve has players forward and possession outside the box we struggle to find any creativity to break them down, VDV would help alot more than a midfield of Melo - Sissoko.
