As many of you have suggested, the key of our mercato this year is how can we do with the flops we have.. However, after the disastrous season we had.. it is indeed difficult to sell our players e.g. Grygera, Tiago, Grosso, Poulsen etc.
This is actually a problem created by Secco who has zero insight in the future market value of the players. we have too many players at their late 20's/early 30's when their salaries are high and at the same time they have only a few years of professional football in them with zero if not negative potential of improvement.
The teams that can afford them will need more proven quality for a 30 year old player otherwise they will go for some promising talent. While the teams that need those 2nd tier players can't afford to pay their wage.
the situation created by Secco & Co. might not be solved in this year. As our deadwoods can't be sold that easily as in FM or whatever. Other clubs are not stupid enough to risk on paying high wages for players like Tiago and Grosso.
Fortunately, the purchase made by Marrota so far are either young players or 27-30 year old players with loan deals with option to buy (except J.Martinez who I don't really know well). I can see Marotta have been doing so much better than Secco in that sense.
However, the fact that our flops are difficult to offload doesn't change no matter how good Marotta is and we might need to wait another 1 or 2 years when those players' contracts expire. And we might need to wait till then before we can see some of the dream teams in this wish list thread.
