Di Carlo speaks as Samp boss

Domenico Di Carlo has been unveiled as the new boss of Sampdoria. “It’s an honour to be here,” he declared.

The former Vicenza midfielder was confirmed as the new Doria Coach last night just hours after announcing he had left Chievo Verona.

Hired to replace the Juventus-bound Luigi Del Neri, the tactician spoke with excitement at the prospect of his new adventure.

“I felt incredible joy last night when I was given the OK to complete the move,” said the ex-Parma boss.

“It’s an honour to be here and the Champions League will be a fantastic stage to play on. We’ll always give our best.”

Di Carlo not only inherits a side that has just finished fourth in Serie A, but also a gifted genius in the form of Antonio Cassano.

“He is an important player and I want our relationship to be clear from day one,” continued the Italian.

“Our bond will grow and I’m sure he’ll have a great season as he will want to break into the Italy side for the European Championship.”

The new man at the helm was also sure that Giampaolo Pazzini and Angelo Palombo wouldn’t be following Del Neri and director general Beppe Marotta to Turin.

“The President has already declared that they are not for sale,” he added.

Great news. So if its not Pazzini, Dzeko or Gilardino, who will be our new striker?
