After being quite sceptical about Douglas I've changed my mind about him after watching more games with him in. Would be a great solution to our defensive frailties. But if Twente have got Champions League, it will be pretty difficult to get him to join, I guess this is what we need a good transfer manager for and let's hope Marotta's our man.

Douglas? yes he's good but little experience at top-level
no offence but Holland is not exactly up to serie A
Of course, and certain people will try and convince you that every player that comes out of the Eredivisie is a nailed on flop.

Okay, with McClaren leaving Twente as well, it should be interesting.

I like to think that when a club like Juve comes along a player like Douglas will be very quick to come to Turin, by foot if needed
I agree. Getting him from Twente shouldn't be a problem really. His agent said he is going to leave, or did a month or so ago. Twente were top of the league and looked like they were going to win it back then.

He also said something about being in negotiations with an Italian club and that he couldn't say which, but that having Brazilians at this club would only help him settle in. You do the math.

Could be bs though, obviously. But I'm just saying that he isn't going to stay at Twente most likely.

I don't know why but I don't trust Eredivisie. Its like, everybody that goes from the Swedish league ends up being a success in the Holland, and honestly, the Swedish league is really, really bad. Not even top 30.

Plenty of good players came out of our league. Plenty of people doubted Van Nistelrooy, Robben, Sneijder, Van der Vaart, Van Persie...... I think you see my point.

It's obviously a step back from the big leagues, but there seems to be a general agreement onhere that when a player plays in the Eredivisie or is Italian, he's overrated.

He's young, he's talented and can go either way, you can never be sure. I agree it's more of a risk, though.

We don't need more lazy, partying, disruptive Brazilians!

Chivu was the last great defender that came out of the Dutch league if I remember correctly. Since then it has been the likes of Boulahrouz, Mathijsen, Heitinga etc. Though Vermaelen has been surprisingly good for Arsenal in his first season.

With that said, I wouldn't go for Douglas :p. Subotic, Tasci, Bonucci, Kjaer are all realistic targets we should look at before considering Douglas.
