That just doesn't make sense. Ekdal was thrown out to Siena at the first opportunity and Iago was given to Bari's primavera bench.

Cassano dosent have to come really.. Lets keep Diego and play him as a SS, Camo should stay as far away from the starting 11 as I should! Get us Krasic and sell Melo or Sissoko!..

That way we can transform to a 4-2-3-1 when attacking with Giovinco and Krasic moving up.. Or we could get Vargas (insted of Krasic) and move Giovinco on the right side of the midfield.

Though a SS is supposed to be able to dribble opponents, score goals and create chances out of nothing.

Palladino would/should be used in any swap for Criscito, and vice versa. They were co-owned to Genoa for roughly the same price, with Criscito's half being slightly more expensive.

Palladino + 1-2m for Criscito would be a fair trade.

Diego in my opinion has a lot of those qualities you mentioned. His game definitely isn't just about passing the ball. He should do great behind the striker in a 4-4-1-1 formation.

with the little information I would like to make my predictions for our mercato
if this rumour of Palombo is true then we can expect to see at least one dm leaving. my guess is Poulsen and/or maybe Melo.
in defence we will sell Grygera, Zebina, Canna,...
so we need to sign a rb and someone next to Chiellini possibly a lb as well
I believe we will get back Criscito and Palladino
and that brings us to midfield again
we have bases covered at dm, on the left we have Giovinco and Palladino who can also play as a sub for Del Piero.
on the right we need to buy at least one good winger, Hazard?
and in attack we will need one striker if we sell Trez and Amauri
now this can mean we play 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1
and Diego would fit in perfectly
we can play 4-4-2 with Del Piero but he can't play every game as we all know so then bring in Diego and change to the other formation mentionned above
so basically we need three defenders, a midfielder optional , two wingers and one forward
fill in the gaps with youngsters like Ekdal, Yago, Rossi
and we are all set
this is based on the little we actually know and I don't know if this would cut it but it might look like this

Hazard Palombo Marchisio Giovinco

Pazzini

if you sub Diego with Del Piero you get a striker next to Pazzini and thus a 4-4-2 or move the am's up the field and you get 4-2-3-1
talk about being versatile
this is my humble opinion of what they are aiming for
now you can always discuss the names but I'm only giving an example
I like VanderWiel and Hazard, Barzagli? he's Italian and that's what Marrota seems to like
