Guus Hiddink declared he won’t renew his Russia contract, but will Juventus opt for him or Cesare Prandelli?

The Dutchman was tipped to take over from Ciro Ferrara, but there were difficulties buying him out of his contract with the Russian national team.

“After a very friendly meeting with the new President of the Russian Federation, we preferred to go our separate ways from June 30,” announced Hiddink in Dutch newspaper Telegraaf.

“We decided to bring the decision forward to now so that the Federation can have time to choose my successor.”

This effectively leaves the door wide open for Hiddink to take charge of Juventus from the end of this season.

Alberto Zaccheroni’s deal only runs to June 30 with an option to extend for another year, but the club needn’t necessarily take it up.

However, there are other matters to consider, as over the last few days newspaper speculation has grown over Prandelli’s future.

The Fiorentina boss played for Juventus during his career and has also been linked with the Italy job.

“I don’t think it is right to discuss this issue,” replied Prandelli when asked about his future at either Juve or the Nazionale.

“With the club owners we have decided to meet up in the spring. At that point we’ll figure out what our future plans are and we’ll evaluate the situation.”

Another alternative is Liverpool’s Rafa Benitez, who has also been linked with the Milan bench.
