I can't forget about him.:groan:
We won't be using Gio anytime soon. I bet we could get a pretty penny by selling him too or using him in a trade. Gourcuff would be a dream signing for me.
It's ridiculous to sell one winger to buy another.
And "buying Gourcuff" is he thing we do all the time: buy players that we don't need. We hadn't full-backs but bought DMs. Now we haven't wingers but you advise to buy AMC.

Are you Secco? ;-)

For one he'd be a massive upgrade in terms of quality, vision & passing.Qualities that we severely lack in this team.

Its Zidane's fault that Benzema is a flop at Real! That was your famous line,so don't throw stones when you have a massive boulder over your head.

Forget about Gourcuff. We already have AMC. We need wingers who can play AMC if needed (Gio for example), not AMC who'll play winger most of time.

Agree completely. There's some question as to where he would be asked to play as he doesn't fit with our current formation (which is what, exactly?), but he is definitely talented enough to make it work. We would for sure have to buy at least a right back though, IMO.

Formation-wise, the 4231 like Hustini mentioned would work, provided you don't ask the left and right AM's to play like out-and-out wingers. Keep them near the center of the pitch and let them one-two the defense to death.

Or you could also run a 4-1-2-1-2:

RB - Legro/New CB - Chiello - De Ceglie
Melo/Sissoko
Marchisio/Candreva- Diego
Gourcuff
SS - FW

This formation requires the wing backs to push up and keep possession, so Grygera will not do. Marchisio would be acting as a box to box mid, more defensive in nature, while Diego would be the playmaker. Gourcuff as trequartista. Or we could just say screw it and get Asamoah :D
Lets not go into 41212 other creative formation to suit one single purchase

Gourcouff has not been excellent in ligue 1 lately (even Blanc has admitted that he has not replicated the form, from the beginning of the season) Don't kill me if im wrong, I haven't seen the matches just read about them. He does get credit from scoring important cl goals though.

We need to buy to suit the formation our new coach wants to play. Not the reverse, on a player flopping in the seria a once.

What is the point in buying Gourcouf and then play Diego out of position, instead of buying a winger and play everybody in position. You can argue Diego for Gourcouff. Thats fine, I just think we're going to kick ourselves for doing that.

I argue Di Maria all the time. Then we'd have Di Maria, Gio for the left Diego, Candreva, Camo and Gio for Center and Camo, Candreva for the right. Gio would be used bc of rotation an injuries and everbody will play their favourite position.

It like this summer, we needed D'ago but bought Melo, now we need width, so we should not buy another treqaurtista.

I thought Zacc might stay beyond this season, but with Bettega's recent interview I certainly know it's not the case anymore.
I thought that too but hoped from the bottom of my heart that he won't.

When I reactivate my memories and recall Ferrara's case (how many times and months they were giving him chances one by another) I wouldn't be surprise if they decide to keep this dude here (they want the cheapest one).

Seems that our board don't have a future plans at all.

And when I think that instead of Zac they may bring Gentile, Conte or van Basten (almost the same caliber as Zac) that makes me even more obsessed.

If we a going to play 4-2-3-1, so from this "3" we have first choice LW(Gio) and AMC (Diego), and second choice RW (Camo).
So we need:
1. Right winger for starting XI.
2. Left winger for a bench (good if he can play AMC). And this role also can be covered by Iago, Rossi etc.
