Samp set €20m Cassano price Saturday 30 January, 2010

Sampdoria President Riccardo Garrone says he will only sell Antonio Cassano for a figure well in excess of €20m.

Cassano was dropped for the second straight week ahead of Sunday’s match against Atalanta.

Sampdoria Coach Gigi Del Neri insists Cassano’s absence is purely a tactical decision, but rumours of a bust up persist around the club’s training ground in Bogliasco.

It’s also true that he pulled up during training with a muscular problem, but it is not thought to be serious.

Earlier this week, Cassano’s agent said his client would be open to a move away from the Blucerchiati amid interest from Manchester City and even Fiorentina.

“The Cassano question will be managed with particular attention because he is an extraordinary resource, an extraordinary asset… And I won’t say anything else,” Garrone explained.

“Any offers will have to be well above his release clause [said to be around €20m] and this is also Cassano’s wish.

“I personally don’t believe that a transfer is possible, also because the transfer window closes in two days and I don’t predict any offers,” he concluded.

If we can pay over 20m euro on a half assed Amauri, we can splash it on this magician. Or we can try and get a younger gamble in Rossi.

Add CCCP to that KKK. Caceres, Criscito, Candreva and Pazzini. :flag1:
Caceres :agree:
Criscito is not interested in coming back.
I'm not sure about Candreva. Krasic is the best replacement for Camo.
Pazzini, I think he might turn out to be another Amauri till he performs for 1 more season

Rebel players who fail to perform on the pitch will be booted out of the club as Juventus heir John Elkann lays down new hard-line rules.

Tuttosport reports that those who do not respond to demands, or fail to deliver results will come under heavy fire. And, like Ciro Ferrara, could be ousted.

The Elkanns have set objectives for the second half of the season, with Europa League success and Champions League qualification being made top priority.

Players will now come under scrutiny as Elkann pulls out his scope and will be following them closely. And anyone who doesn't meet the new standards, which have been set following the arrival of Alberto Zaccheroni, could be in trouble.

On Friday, president Jean-Claude Blanc made it clear that no-one would escape punishment for failures.

He said everyone was responsible as he asked the players to pull together.

Easy said than done mr. Elkann (if there is any truth in any of this).

This is what we need right now though. We need someone to lay down the law. We also need someone who will sell the dead weight, and fringe players with high salaries. Personally I'd like to see at least 5 or 6 players leave during the summer.
