Seriously though, even we started thinking similarly, influenced by the Italian meaning of "young footballer".
Marchisio will be 25 in 4 months. I do, and I think many of you here too, consider him a very young player who has all the time in the world to improve. We see him as a player with potential who, with time, might become an excellent midfielder.

The reality is that he's already in his best footballing years and there won't really be much improvement from here on.

His skills and physical attributes won't grow. But as with a lot of Italian and Serie A players, they start their senior careers later and often see their best years later as they get more experience and tactical knowledge. The opposite are the English who always look to have some wonderkids who are actually just players who are good for their age and more physically mature but don't improve much down the years.

I don't think they have made the 'cut' yet. The final 25-man squad doesn't have to be submitted until the 1st september. But Ireland won't be in that squad. He's going to Aston Villa in the Milner deal (?).

my bet is we're getting a new CM, RW and LB

He said it quite clearly that winger and LB are top priority, other positions only when we see the existing leaves.

I remember he kinda mentioned Ferrero's name earlier this summer and he might be considered as the 4th CB...
Or if we get Bocchetti, then he can cover both LB and CB.
