I found this today on our austrian sports page (www.laola1.at)
AUSTRIA WIEN: Wie die "Gazzetta dello Sport" berichtet, beobachtet Juventus Turin Salzburgs Goalgetter Marc Janko und Austrias Abwehrspieler Aleksandar Dragovic. Das Duo soll Sportdirektor Alessio Secco beim ÖFB-Länderspiel in Frankreich aufgefallen sein.

This means Juves Alessio Secco is in stands when FAK Austria Vienna meets Red Bull Salzburg on saturday. Juve will watch DC Aleksander Dragovic and Salzburgs Marc Janko. He is watching them since Wednesday when Austria played France.

I have to say, I would like to see Dragovic in Turin as he has a lot of potential - He cracked the team at FAK at age 17 and was a national when he just turned 18, of course his play is inconsistant but on the national team he is always the best on defense, my god he could learn so much from Cannavaro !
As for Janko - he scored about 40 goals last season (Austrian league, yes) and he scored now on 4 or 5 straight games international (Euro league against Lazio and Villareal, national latvia, I think Rumania and yes, France last wednesday) still I am not sure for Janko - he is already 26 and he is the Trezeguet style player, he works now a bit more to the back and may be a bit better technical.
I just thought I added this - not sure if anone is interested... you knoe sometimes even an austrian player can help...see manninger :)
C ya.

Who say's we can sign Marquez and a young CB during the same transfer?

PS: Fred doesn't Fran Merida's contract end this season?
Fran Merida's contract does end this season, thats true. We are in the process of trying to convince him to sign a new contract though.

Essien etc are billed as DMFs so that is what they shall be for the purposes of this list

1.Essien
2.Albelda- I know this'll be controversial
3.Xabi Alonso
4.Tymoschuk
5.Senna
6.De Rossi
7.L. Diarra
8.Simon Rofles
9.Toulalan
10.Lorik Cana

 What a shit list indeed.

Albelda is way past his best, he doesn't even start anymore. Has he even played this season? I watched them play a few times this season and i don't even remember seeing him.

Washed up player, cross him off the list.

Xabi Alonso is a deep lying playmaker, its hard to compare him to Masch as they are completely different midfielders.

Tymoschuk is a good DM, but he is nowhere near Masch's level.

L.Diarra is a top DM too, but i would say that Masch is a better reader of the game and is more tactically astute. Even though they are equally agressive tacklers. He's a good DM, and one of the few who deserve to be on a list like that, but he isn't as good as Javi imo.

Toulalan isn't on Javi's level either. Good DM, but not in the level of the Diarra's, Sissoko's and Mascherrano's.

I don't know much about Rolfes other than a few NT games here and there so i won't comment on him, even though i find it hard to believe he is that good.

As for Cana, he used to be a top DM, but injuries have plagued him recently, last season he was rather average for Marseille(when he wasn't injured), and he has been disappointing for Sunderland this season, barring the game against United where he was brilliant.

Now that you predicted it, he won't say he was taking the piss. But now it got more interesting, would love to see his justification for some of the ridiculous names he put up there.

Albelda and Cana were the funniest

Also the fact that not only does he think a list of more then half which are average (and nr 2 is not even average, he is way below that), are better players then Mascherano, but also better then Momo

I said Albelda would be controversial and he currently has fitness problems which isn't a commentary on his playing style or level of ability. I stand by him though.

Xabi plays as a DMF yes, his role may be as you say but his position is a DMF

Tymoschuk is better than Masch.

I would put Diarra on par with Masch but more agressive

Toulalan is F-ing quality

Of all these i've seen Rolfes the least but he is as good as frings 5 years ago

Cana is adapting to the EPL and he will be key for Steve Bruce, maybe europe next year, if not this year.

Overall I stand by my list, I made it a unbiased as I could and there really is nobody who will 100% agree with me,
but then again many people here don't rate shay given as top 5 in the world, which he certainly is....

Have you really watched Lorik Cana? He's a good DM, but even at his very best, 3 seasons ago he wasn't even close to Javi's level. Not even close, ask anybody whose watched Marseille on a regular basis, he'd tell you that Cana was a good DM, but would laugh at you if you tried to rate him as one of the best in the world.

As for Alonso, he plays deep thats true. But how can you compare him to Javi? They play completely different roles and have completely different attributes, on what basis do you say that Alonso is better?

Tymoschuk?? Come on man.

Toulalan is quality, i know he's quality i watch the Ligue week in week out FFS. But he isn't in Javi's level, as simple as that. Masch is better than him in almost every aspect of the game.

I won't argue further on L.Diarra, not because i agree with you, but because its the only point you brought up, that at least mildly made sense.

Momo, Melo and Marchisio will probably play most of the games next season with Camo being a super sub. We need bench players to replace Tiago and Poulsen if we can find clubs that want to buy them.

I'd give Marrone more playing time and wouldn't be opposed to a freebie like Ledesma, Pizarro and buy a promising mid like Kacar.

What does it mean stand by Albelda? He has been absolute shit for Valencia for ages, I watch them and know Valencia fans, and he is like their Molinaro, they treat him as a cancer, despite being a former cherished captain, he is soooooooooooo shitty that they cant stand him. No to mention Valencia SUCKS defensively so much due to having crap DM like him.

FFS, how the fuck is he even a 10th of the player Mascherano is? Valencia fans would sacrifice Albelda in the altar to get a world class player like him. Its just about Mascherano, but you put this shitty player as nr two, meanng 2nd best DM in the world????

As Fred says, Lassana is the only one that makes bit sense in your list (besides the obvious De Rossi and Essien, Senna too is real good, though not better), the rest are just real wtf.
