diego is a trequartista...ribery is an lcm, you can't compare them...

Actually i believe Ribery is perfectly capable of playing behind the strikers. Bayern haven't played him there, but back when he was in L'OM he played that position quite a few times and he was extremely good there.

Didn't Ribery objected to Van Gaal when he wanted to play him behind strikers, if I remember correctly Ribery said that he is better on the wing and that's where he should/will play.

I didn't hear of that. But back in Marseille he used to play behind the strikers, until Nasri broke into the team, at which point Ribery was moved back to his original position, which is on the wing. But he is perfectly capable of playing as a Trequartista.

It's pretty close, indeed. But the number of occasions, and times shown his pedigree put's Franck ahead, for now. You just get that 'magic' more often from him.

I think that's 100% realisitic, I don't think our board will go all out like this summer simply because I doubt we're that financially strong, keep it mind that our books our balanced. Having said that, if we do well in the Champions League and the bring in Kjær and Rafinha with Pandev on a free, then I would be more than satisified.

Pandev? As a backup, maybe. As a Del Piero replacement, hell no! He is nowhere near consistent enough, and does not possess the pedigree to be a world class player. Cassano or Jovetic as DP replacements, a quality RB, a young CB with leadership potential, and I will be happy.

The season after that (i.e. 2011-2012), we can start searching for Trez and Camo replacements.

Cavani is pretty good, but he doesn't have the natural scoring sense that Trez does. That's OK though as very few do.

The way I see it is we may as well look for DP, Trez, Canna and Camo replacements along with a RB. Pretty damn expensive. Our midfield is set for a long time other than Camo.
