What's up with Gignac and Hoarau Frederick?

Gignac had a fantastic season last year, and maybe some will remember this, but i expected him to be a one season wonder. I never really rated him and i know him since his Lorient days. He was never a special talent, but last year everything seemed to go well with him and he had a brilliant season. This year not so much, out of the 6 games he played he has only scored one goal.

He's a decent player, but i do not believe he has enough quality to be playing for a top team. He's decent on the ball, he's good in the air and he's a physically strong player.

As for Hoarau, he is a decent player too. Strong player, decent technically, can hold the ball up well and naturally for someone his size is very good in the air. I like Hoarau, but he too is not good enough to be playing for a team like Juve.

I don't believe you should be looking too much into either player.

Would even give you 10M over Eduardo for Melo.


I think the turning point for us this season was when we lost out on Felipe Melo, our season would have been so different if Melo was playing alongside Cesc instead of Denilson.

I was looking at the scorers in France this season and wondered why they didn't show up on it.

Correct, out of the players in that 'category' I guess Gomis has the best shot considering Lyon decided to splash on him opposed to Gignac, Hoarau.

Thinking about it twice I wouldn't do it, I guess we're already quite adept in terms of strikers but if we to go out and directly replace Trez with straight cash then Eduardo would definitely be my pick.

Of course you wouldn't do it. I wouldn't if i were Ferrara, strikers you can find, midfield generals in the mould of Melo are the ones that are hard to come by.

Would not sell you Sagna, but i would be willing to part with Edu, but if and only if you give us Melo in exchange.

We won`t give you Melo but how about Grygera?!

I think you misunderstood him, he said he wanted someone who scores more than Cassano, not someone better

I know but in this case, I think I'd prefer Cassano over Aguero. Cassano is crazy when it comes to assist and we'd have Diego who can score when needed so we'd just need striker eventually.

Why's that? He'd be perfect especially if we're replacing Trez, he's clinical, very fox in the box à la Trez. It's not like we're going to put him on the flanks (which we can't with our formation), like Wenger did on the weekend

Because I'm counting on Cassano and don't know why but I don't think I'd play with Eduardo as a lone striker. I'd have a couple of choices ahead of him.

Edu can't play as the lone striker anyway. But in a 4-3-1-2 formation he would be brilliant alongside someone like Amauri.

He did very well alongside Adebayor before.

I said I count on Cassano, so with Diego it'd be 4-3-2-1 probably so that's why I'd avoid him.

Cassano is a support striker though, not an attacking mid. Despite his creativity, it won't do him good to be played as an attacking mid. Even with Cassano i believe it will stay a 4-3-1-2. With Cassano playing alongside one of the strikers.

But indeed if Cassano comes, Edu will definitely not have a place in the team/

He drops deep a lot to receive the ball, but he still plays as a second striker in Samp too.

I think a good analogy here would be attacking fullbacks. They are very good going forward to the extent that they tempt their managers to try them out as wingers, 8 times out of 10 it turns into a failed experiment.

From all the matches i've seen of him in Sampdoria i never saw him covering midfield and i surely never saw him defend. When the other team's attacking, Cassano is the only Samp player not involved in the defense and he's always in opponent's half or at the center when the ball is in Sampdoria's half. If you check on Samp's counters you'll see that Cassano is alone up front, he recieves the ball, holds it, and waits for Pazzini to make a run from behind
Maybe you got confused with how he goes deep to take the ball sometimes. But Del Piero was doing the same last year when the midfield couldn't do anything, so Ale had to do everything alone. That's the case with Cassano from time to time, when the midfield is clueless.
