"Before today, I used to criticise my companion if my religion was not the one which he followed. But my heart changed to accept every image, so pastures for the carefree lovers and convents for the monks. A house of idols and the idol house at Taa'if, the tablets of the Torah and the mushaf of the Qur'aan. I follow the religion of love wherever it takes me, so all religion is my religion and belief."
Oh I don't think you are Suffi, but I'll take it at face value....

You are interested in the history of Andalucia, thats one thing I know for sure;)

you re very perceptive :) but who do you pick taymiyah or ibn arabi?
TBH I don't think I have the adequete knowledge or interest to judge. I might be into Arabic History but not so much in literature, and especially not the spiritual and faith literature.

But on a side note, Ibn Taymiyah is much more revered and quoted than Ibn Arabi over here in Saudi.

So I gather that you are a believer of the "heavenly religions" and that their respective prophets were messenger of god and their teachings were relevated from a superior being. Yet, you don't differentiate between them and all of them in their truest essence are the same???

any worship in its truest form is a recognition of the one supreme being, however prophets as you mentioned are sent to direct people towards the right path as with moses and the golden calf episode, I also dont adhere to pantheistic tenets but ibn arabi is a good read if not translated by some orientalist; am sure that wont be an issue for you :D

I can tell you that Ibn Taymeyyah is much appreciated than Ibn Arabi in most of the Arab countries nowadays...

Well, saying that "The slave is God, and the God is slave" needs some time to be understood, and I don't think modern Arabs have the patience to think about it...

So, Ibn Taymeyyahs are much easier to the Arab brain...:p
