Behold what happens when you let Religion influence Politics, a Theocracy hell bent on being big douches.

unfortunately our government spend huge investment to make people more religious.
i think increasing oil price is better than emerging government that want to threat its people and other world through suppression and nuclear bomb.

That's partly true but I believe that there is a bigger force trying to make people hate on religion and Islam. People in general are now far less religious than what they used to be some 20-30 years ago.

Uhhh, the funny thing is, no matter who attacks Iran the US would suffer the consequences... BIG TIME.

Iran has said they would shut down oil flow throughout the region, especially through the Strait of Hormuz, if they were attacked. Crude oil would immediately spike in price and who the hell knows what the limit would be. $100/barrel, $150/barrel, depends on how much damage is done and the scale of the attacks. We are talking about 2 million barrels of crude DAILY from this region that might not reach its destination, or it could also be destroyed by the Iranian military.

Such oil prices would send the US economy into free fall mode. You don't want to see that.

Not to mention the probable retaliatory attacks by groups like Hezbollah and Iranian factions ready to strike whenever the first attacks on the motherland occur. If you think that just because we didn't pull the trigger means we're safe you're not thinking through this clearly.
Ironically it might save the environment :seven:

I can imagine in a world without religion: everyone is singing kumbaya and passing around a peace pipe...NOT it will be just as fucked
Even as an atheist I agree with you somewhat. Taking religion out of the picture would prevent some wars and conflicts but people would just find another reason to fight. At some point it isn't even about what a cause anymore, people just fight and will use any excuse

yes. i agree with you that there is anti-religious movement among young and educated people and even uneducated people. this trend resulted from inability and inefficiency of religious and specifically Islam in meeting fast-growing needs of people.generally i see two trend in iran. one huge investment from government to religosize more people and trend toward anti-Islamic and more attention to nationality and its history before Islam arriving.

We'd be 1000 years more advanced because there were no dark ages

If there was no religion the amount of wars would drop considerably, the main problem is that religion is a bullshit reason and is harmful to the human race. An Atheist world would be less violent but FULL of douches like me.

See the problem is that all the wars that have been going on in the past century have no religious reason, they were all sparked by conflicting interests and most importantly, colliding forces.

Just name me one relegious war that happened in the past century..

Its called the Balkan war for a reason and that reason is that it has more to do with race than religion. Thus Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia and Montenegro chose division over unification despite the united religion.

the reason why we dint have any religious war in 20th century is resulted that many countries have democratic system. otherwise if religious rule over political affairs in the world we will have many wars. for example Cruciate wars were happened between followers of Islam and Christians.

The Six day war counts somewhat.
Oh really, why's that?

Exactly, when democracy and religion meets the political system is great and the same goes for an atheist country with no democracy, that would be a real fucked up country.
