There isn't really a big difference. Lying and not airing a critical part of an interview are both used for the same purpose.
I could go over several examples, like MSNBC reporting that the tea party people were shouting nigger and spitting on black people at a rally, then the video of the event showed none of it occurred.
Media manipulation is indeed much more rampant than straight lying, but taken at face value, both are basically the same. That's why it can't be trusted.
