Truth be told, you may be right, DB. The Mrs. has a good friend out there I know as well, as well as the brother of one of my best friends who directs opera there. One of these days, we're going to make the journey. But the espresso better be good... :D

Uh oh... :scared: :D
Gah, I'm perfectly harmless

I've got some stories from the family. Just a while ago my sister and her boyfriend were going home from having visited my parents. It was 11 in the evening and my parents live on the countryside so they had to drive quite far to reach the highway.

At some given moment, in the middle of nowhere off the side of the road, they see a man lying down and another man standing next to him, kicking the shit out of him. Of course it was all very dark but that's what they thought they could make out.

My sister's boyfriend wanted to stop the car, get out and help but my sister (she has the most incredibly strong insticts) locked the car doors and told him to drive on and they would call the police with their cellphone.

The police officer on the other end of the line, upon hearing the story, tells my sister to go back and check if the two men are still there. When they drive back, both have disappeared.

"You're very lucky", the policeman continued, "That is a famous trick we've been hearing a lot recently. If you had gotten out of the car, you would both have been murdered and the car would have been stolen."

:scared:

I myself always have dumb little things. Like I bought this long black overcoat that goes with a suit I own because I was starting a new job the next week (dresscode). I went to watch "Scream" with my friends late afternoon, during the movie it gets dark outside but we don't switch on the lights. After the movie, I walk onto the hallway in near total darkness, see my own black overcoat from the corner of my eye and nearly have a heart-attack.

See, I'm just dumb rather than scared :D

my story.. well I am from Irak and I lived their until 1995. you can imagine what stories I can tell you, but I will start with this one:

I am kurdish and lived in north Irak. 1991 our city was just liberated from the dictators regime of sadam husain.
the liberty lasted only 20 days. In the 21st day the troops of the dictator game back with heavey weapons to the city and our kurdish troops had no chance.. the people had only 2 choices, to stay at home and wait for the end of boming or to leave the city, which was very dangerous too.. we decided to stay home. we were at home and the troops were searching all the city after young people and took them. some of them never came back.. I was lucky that I was only 12 and was not taken from them.. It was a horror, because most of the soldiers were so m heartless...

ok..

I was 8 -9 years old. I was in the car with my parents and my brother.. suddenly we heard alarms and saw lights in the sky.. their was an air-atack from Iran. It was the Irak-Iran war.. the iranian jet bombed about 300-400 meters away from our car.... I know it sounds like a computer game but I have seen all of these things with my own eyes..

another story.. this is the sadest one for me:

a very close friend of my dad was the neighbor of my best mate. my mate was often going out to city center with frind of my father because my mate was too young to drive a car hisself..
The frind of my dad was threated all the by something like Mafia in our city.. mafia wanted him to pay them because he was rich.. he refused to pay.. on day I phoned with my mate and he told me that he is going to the city with frind of my father.. I told him Ok, see you later..
about 20 after that I heard machine guns, it was not that far, but I did not take care because we were used to hear that often but then my father came home and was very sad and told us that his friend and his son were killed in their car... I did not know what to do.. I knew that my mate was in the car too.. I hurrid up to their house and saw his mother.. she told me he is ok but is under shock and we shall let him alone.. He was the only surrivor from the car.. the other 3 people were killed...

Stop, I might cry, and I have only one good eye, the glass eye falls out when I cry.
