If only Dire Straits had a bigger singer..But maybe Knopfler suited them best.He's still a very average vocalist IMO,but a brilliant guitarist.

And you dared attack me for calling Gilmour a average vocalist? HA! Both are on the same level, exactly the same "whispering" style of singing. What you said for Knopfler applies 100% for Gilmour.


BTW, I saw Knopfler live one week ago in Zagreb, it was fucking brilliant. You can check out some vids I posted here, the quality is pretty good, I was close to the stage:

Money one of the hardest songs to sing? LOL, he TALKS in that song! He only changes the tone of his voice on the beggining of each verse, when he "screams" moneeeey, than goes back to talking.

Trust me, it all sounded much better live. And also, the camera's sound recording capabilities are pretty weak.

foo fighters were excellent, good live show but for pure energy it's hard to beat Queens of the Stone Age

Well catching any proper band live, while living in Croatia, is an achievement. So..Mark Knopfler is the best I've seen by a million miles(so far).

I still have Iron Maiden in August so maybe the answer will change after the summer.

Best live show I saw until now has to be Linkin Park, closely followed by Limp Bizkit.

Ive never seen a foriegn musician live.Unless you include those guitar players in the London underground,who are pretty awesome btw

Ive only seen footage of major bands.Based on that footage,id have to go with Kiss and Guns N Roses.I havent seen a lot of Led Zeppelin live footage,but ive heard that they were extremley unpredictable.On some nights they could blow the roof away,and on other nights they could fall flat.

Ive gone for Kiss because of the visual aspect.Kiss on stage just wasnt a concert,it was much more.It was like a movie and music show rolled into one.The same goes for Pink Floyd.While Pink Floyd's music is big enough to survive without the effects n stuff,but that probably wouldnt happen with Kiss.The visual aspect of Kiss had a huge role in making them the stars that they were.

Guns n Roses because of the energy Axl had on stage.I dont think any vocalist,other than David Lee Roth perhaps,had the same onstage energy as Axl.His vocals never seemed to suffer no matter what he did on stage.Guns n Roses as a band were obviously insanely explosive,and that translated into something larger than life on stage.The amazing thing is that unlike a lot of 80's band,GnR never relied on pyrotechnics,fancy laser shows etc.It was all raw agression,and when it clicked..it was phenomenal.

Tell me some good songs by them.The only song i remember by them is one which had these colorful graphic-ish girls in bikinis in the video.Dont remember the name,but the song was neat.

that would have been "go with the flow", their best song by miles is "no-one knows" but "little sister" "sick-sick-sick" "in my head" are all good too.

but to really get them you have to see their live performances

I dont listen to a lot of M.J.Keenan since i find a lot of his stuff boring and very artificially intellectual,but i really like some of his stuff.Stinkfist,Sober,Schism,3 Libras..excellent songs.And today i heard The Noose,which blew me away.Amazing,AMAZING stuff.Keenan can be phenomenal when he wants to.

I liked Tool back in high school, now I've just grown out of them. Though Lateralus is still a friggin' brilliant album in my book.

I dont have the patience to go through an entire Tool album,but i always thought Enima was the best of the lot.Maybe because the name sounds cooler than Lateralus
