we do not need 4 world class fullbacks, all we really need is two top draw players and some backup who can do the job well....we have that already.

Juve sound out Salgado Thursday 19 January, 2006

Juventus have turned their attentions back to Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado, according to reports in Italy.

The Turin club showed an interest in the Spanish full-back several months ago, after Real offered to loan him to Fabio Capello’s men for a year following their purchase of Cicinho.

However, the deal fell through after the Brazilian failed to secure an Italian passport which delayed his move to the Bernabeu until last month.

Now, however, with Juve having failed to lure Willy Sagnol away from Bayern Munich and Cicinho a fully-fledged Galactico, the Salgado deal may be revived.

The experienced 29-year-old is admired by the Bianconeri and is said to be in favour of a switch himself.

The only potential stumbling block is the asking fee – likely to be in the region of £2.75m – as Juventus are renowned for their preference for free agents.

Should the Italian champions opt against signing the blonde-haired right-back, Milan target Aimo Diana is also attracting their interest.

However, the Sampdoria star would not come cheap either, although Juve would be prepared to offer striker Marcelo Zalayeta in part-exchange.

De Jong from ajax is free agent this summer..
correct me if I'm wrong but am I the only guy who likes Zambrotta as a RB, think de jong would be a good backup.
Chiellini might not be the best LB right now, but think he could turn into a good one. Get Maxwell on a free transfer to compete with him on the LB-position

i think we should get an Italian player...support our players. We keep on buying foreign players. IMO i think we should support our own youth and help them develop their skills. This is why Italian football is not like it used to be. We used to have lots of talents...now so few.

There ain't no Johnson on Benfica lol
Like mark said it's Nelson and Benfica put a 12M€ price tag on him so i don't think so ;)
But he's good alright..defends well, shoots well from long range and makes lots of accurate assists!
