Juve sound out Salgado Thursday 19 January, 2006
Juventus have turned their attentions back to Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado, according to reports in Italy.
The Turin club showed an interest in the Spanish full-back several months ago, after Real offered to loan him to Fabio Capello’s men for a year following their purchase of Cicinho.
However, the deal fell through after the Brazilian failed to secure an Italian passport which delayed his move to the Bernabeu until last month.
Now, however, with Juve having failed to lure Willy Sagnol away from Bayern Munich and Cicinho a fully-fledged Galactico, the Salgado deal may be revived.
The experienced 29-year-old is admired by the Bianconeri and is said to be in favour of a switch himself.
The only potential stumbling block is the asking fee – likely to be in the region of £2.75m – as Juventus are renowned for their preference for free agents.
Should the Italian champions opt against signing the blonde-haired right-back, Milan target Aimo Diana is also attracting their interest.
However, the Sampdoria star would not come cheap either, although Juve would be prepared to offer striker Marcelo Zalayeta in part-exchange.
