We have not lost Sagnol yet:
Sagnol future still in doubt
Wednesday 4 January, 2006
Bayern Munich have revealed that Juventus target Willy Sagnol will make a decision on his future by January 10.
Reports in Germany on Tuesday suggested that Sagnol had decided to extend his contract with the giants, thus snubbing a switch to Turin.
However, the Bundesliga champions have admitted that the French international has yet to give an answer to their latest contract offer.
"We have reformed our offer and Sagnol should give us a reply by January 10," said chief Karl Heinz Rummenigge. "If we get a negative response then he will be free to move elsewhere."
It was widely accepted that the right-back had already agreed to join Juventus on a free transfer once his present agreement expires in June.
Yet Bayern seem to have made one last attempt to keep the highly rated 28-year-old in Bavaria.
Whispers suggest that the Munich club have put together a four-year contract worth £1.7m a season.
However, Juventus are ready to draw up a more lucrative agreement in the region of £2m a campaign, plus offer a number of win bonuses.
"Sagnol is a problem for Bayern," responded Juventus director general Luciano Moggi after this latest twist. "If they don’t find an agreement then we will welcome him with open arms."
Some reports around the peninsula today also suggest that Inter may make an attempt to hijack the deal.
