Emerson fancies Juve return
Tuesday 16 January, 2007

Real Madrid flop Emerson is interested in rejoining Juventus – just months after turning his back on the demoted Italian giants.

The Brazilian moved to Real during the summer, but has struggled to adapt to life in Spain despite the presence of boss Fabio Capello – who worked with him at both Roma and Juve.

Real transfer market consultant Ernesto Bronzetti told Controcampo on Sunday that Emerson wanted to wear the Bianconeri jersey again and talks have begun.

The Corriere dello Sport newspaper claims that the player’s agent Gilmar Veloz has contacted Juventus, who would be interested in the operation even if there may be financial hurdles to clear.

Although Emerson’s market value has seemingly dropped from £10m to £5.7m since his move to the Merengues, the main problem might be represented by the Brazilian’s salary demands.

Emerson, who was also paired with a switch to Milan in October, currently earns around £4.2m a season.

The new Juventus management could not match such a wage which means an Emerson return would depend on the South American accepting a significant decrease in pay.

The proposed move would only take place in the summer, though, seeing as the former Bayer Leverkusen player is currently sidelined with injury.

i really wouldn't mind having him back if we can get him on a cheap.

Hey if he wants to come back and take a pay cut i say let's do it, one thing that this team proved this year is our lack of depth. This guy is proven and with our injury prone team he would be a good fit either as a starter or as a sub. Another benefit is he already played with us and doesn't need time to adapt to team.

It doesn't matter if he'll be 31 next year.
Makelele is much older and he still brings the stability in midfield noone else in the world does.
The thing about players like Emo is that my eye and another non-expert's eye can't see what is he capable of and how useful he is. But all the greatest managers in the world can't even imagine their teams without players like Emerson.

As someone allready mentioned, Emerson does the work of 3 man. He may not driblle the entire opponents defense and score many goals, but he'll certanly stop many opponents actions before they even begin and create a chance for us that way.

Did you see Brazil without Emerson against France at the WC ? Zidane did whatever he wanted , while super stars like Kaka and Ronaldinho couldn't even try to do smthg with Makelele-Vieira in front of them.

We need such players, and there are only 3-4 players like Emo out there. We can't buy Makelele, Vieira, Gattuso or Diarra. But we can get Emerson back, and we should do it.

P.S : I never liked him though. :)

Thanks but no thanks to Emerson unless we get him for very little and he takes a huge paycut. I'd be quite happy to have Tachinardi instead as he will cost less and he actually has some feeling for the club.

Emerson might come cheap. Once he gets his divorce settlement through from Capello he won't be short of cash.:D

Welcome back Emerson! We really need a defensive midfilder and Emerson has already played in Juve, so he knows already all the manors in here and he's still very good player. But he has to accept a huge pay-cut and we can't pay more than 5 miljon euros to get him...

But for Tachinardi, no thanks! Emerson is much better player than him and he makes too much fouls. And we don't need any other back-up players to our scuad. We alredy have Paro, Zanetti, Giannigheda and Marchisio to that place
