Yes, we do and we can. At least in the forum.
Because you can hardly ever see (no, scratch that. You can never see...) Vlatko and Dule, Me and Zaim, xcen3x and Cronios or Goggo and Juve_Kosova fight here over our beliefs, political and religious views (we're catholic christians, ortodox christians, muslims and atheists), over the war or over the ongoing problems between our countries.
The Balkan thread doesn't have a single fight in it. Quite the opposite, you can only see friends joking, talking football.

Open a religious thread where the Asian muslims and all the non-muslims can post or open a thread where muslims and jews can post and see if you can do what the Balkans here do.
That's true, which is sort of intuitive. The Balkan wars are more of a thing of the past while the Palestinian conflict will seemingly never end until the complete obliteration of the region occurs.

I know but...I don't get it. Unless he doesn't want to, but then again I'd force him. :D
He doesn't want to, he made thousands of dollars, maybe millions after selling this site, it is believed that he is still wasting that money (it never ends). :D

Naaah, the cordial group balkans of this forum are a BIG exception from what I have seen, everywhere else I seen Balkans posts, in XT in particular (plus grown up with a few), it goes from friendly discussion to total primitive nonstop vile war of words ad infinitum, over ANYTHING (I even banned a few recently in XT because they deemed it fit to post pictures of dismembered dead bodies of their "enemies" to mock eachother...). The tension and heated state of anything balkan (except Slovenia apparently) can really be amped up to the core with the slightest of provocations.

You two, who were sooooo against Seven's ban and completely ignored him and told people to ignore him....... what is your current avatar about?
It's a funny avatar though, have to admit. :D

Some alternatives.
1) Ban Seven. But this is unjust because he's not deserving a ban for what he does imo.
2) Apply gentle pressure on Seven to stop provoking. This is delicate because you have to make sure you're speaking to him not as an authority with demands but more as a buddy with a request. However, Seven is a particularly difficult case because to him provocation is more of a calling than a hobby. In other words, asking him to stop is tantamount to asking him to stop enjoying this place. So I wouldn't bet my house on it.
3) Try to talk sense into the people who are taking this so personally. This is what I've always tried to do, along with 2). This is not trivial, of course.
When you're a parent and your kid gets called a name in school, what do you do? Tell him not to take it so hard, that people sometimes do things not because they really hate you but because they have their own problems. And that yes, sometimes people will say things you don't like to hear, but that's just the way life is.
Numbers 1 and 2 have already been tried, but don't seem to work. I've been promoting number 3 as I see that as the best way to cut back on the petty arguments, because if you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to want more. But that idea is considered to be unfair to the others.

Another possible sanction would be to start banning people from certain forum sub-sections. For instance, if Seven starts to bring up religious nonsense in team talk as means to instigate, then he is banned from that sub-section until he shows improvement in the others. If he runs out of sections to show improve in, then it's his own fault because he'd run out of chances. And this sort of sanction would also apply to those who find it necessary to provoke Seven as well IF they have a history of doing so.

Might be a little complicated, but that's the only alternative I see to outright banning.

Hmm, I have seen such stuff on XT, but then again I don't hold many posters there in high regard.

Andy was faster to reply to Martin but that was exactly what I wanted to say.

As for your suggestion, Andy, technically it is really complicated to achieve that. Really really complicated. It can be done but it recquires a full time job just to moderate one member.

I say reduce the ban to a day or two. Not just for Seven, but for everyone, a bit off topic I know. But it is so ridiculous the 21 day ban (again am not talking about the Seven's case) or the permanent ban!

That's true.

That's why i said the Balkans of this forum are special and Tahir's ironical laughs at Dule and Vlatko telling people what should be done were undeserved. :)

No one is using the 21 day ban anyway. No one is being banned and the last bans were for a day or two and at extreme cases 7 to 10 days.

If your standard is the most common then I still have two years left for my retirement :sergio:
As a moderator you burn out and the more you care the quicker you do. That's the way it is dealing with people. And it's why families always have the same points of conflict between members, because people rarely change.

I tried to ignore that laugh but I can't and I won't discuss something like that with him again. It was a stupid thing and I would never do something like that.
