I issued a yellow card for one of his "f#$% you, ciro" posts -- asking if he was getting the message by my yellow card warning (the system PMs you with a message from the mod when a post is tagged as a rule violation).

He still didn't stop. So he posted the same stuff again and earned another yellow card, which, based on his total active point count, pushed him past the system limit -- i.e., red card. So he will sit it out for a little.

Two reds amounts to 8 points (well, in this instance - it varies a bit by offence). You need ten (active - they do expire) points to get an automatic suspension. Your record was clean, but his wasn't.

I have a question to mods, when someone reps you and its not green or red, but grey, what does that mean?

It means that the user has very little rep points. The grey box adds nothing to your rep points.
