Boumsong has the physique of a good defender. But thats about it. We have seen that he lacks the concentration and lacks the ability to properly read the game much less lead the defence.

He is a liability. If a great CB is brought in, and Boumsong learns a thing or two from the guy or is able to listen to the coordination of the other CB, then perhaps Boumsong could be used as a sub. But that is a VERY BIG IF, Imo.

Boumsong.......Le tragic. At Auxerre with Mexes he was the future of Les Blues...but subsequent moves to bigger leagues for the duo have not done their reps a world of good. I would say let's see how a second season goes 4 him..but only as back-up.(Do we still have legr0?)

Bordeaux line up Boumsong Wednesday 4 July, 2007

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bordeaux are reportedly ready to make an imminent bid for Juventus defender Jean-Alain Boumsong.

New boss Laurent Blanc, formerly a player for Napoli and Inter, wants the stopper who would be available for transfer.

Boumsong only joined the Italian outfit last summer, but may be ready to walk away following the resignation of Didier Deschamps – the tactician who specifically requested him a year ago.

Although he did play a part in the side’s successful Serie B campaign, the fact that the Old Lady are now looking for a new central defender underlines that he still has his doubters within the club.

Boumsong, contracted to Juventus until 2010, hasn’t played in Ligue 1 since he quit Auxerre in 2004 for Rangers and then Newcastle.

Another man who could swap Italy for France this summer is Fabio Grosso of Inter. Lyon want the left-back and talks are scheduled for Thursday.

We need to sell Legro or Boumsong if we want a quality CB twin
and since no1 is interest to buy Legro, we must "sacrifice" Boumsong,.
Farewell!!

about time he left!!
one of my friends is newcastle fan, and he laughed when they offloaded boumsong to us, and gave me a sixpack, saying i would be needing it while watching him in action.
glad that he's leaving but i respect that he took a turn in a lower division for us.

Juventus will soon have an offer on the table from Bordeaux for Jean-Alain Boumsong, according to the French media.

New Bordeaux coach Laurent Blanc is a known admirer of the 27-year-old France defender, who has become increasingly insecure about his future in Torino following the persistent reports linking Juventus to a steady stream of central defenders such as Milito, Pepe, Barzagli, Cris and Luisao.

To his credit, Boumsong is determined to tough it out at Juve and has recently gone on record as saying that he has “no intention of leaving." He is unlikely to have a say on the matter, however.

In other Juventus news, Claudi Ranieri has streamlined his squad ahead of next season by authorising the departure of Rej Volpato and Sebastian Giovinco. Both promising youngsters will be plying their trade for Empoli next season on a co-ownership and loan deal respectively.

It make sense to sell him as when playing against higher level oppostion he does make a lot basic mistakes which are bread and butter for defenders like stumbling often when he is the last man and getiing on the wrong side of the attacking player, he is a wasted potential who showed so much promise in ligue for auxerre, lets move on get a quality cb

I think boumsong can be used as a sub , defintetely not as a starter , but the guy is a french international , a very physical player , and is good at getting to headers . i think he lacks the ability to read what's going on in the game .

he's not a very clever cb , but for some games he could be very useful .. he's better than the other subs we have imo
