As much as I like DD, he is as much to blame for this as Secco is, if not more.
I think the biggest point of contention was the lenght of contract. My bet here is that Juve brass probably didnt want to give that contract extension to Deschamp. Couple that with the disagreement on transfer policy, its not hard to understand the tension and pressure Didi must have felt during his tenure. I wouldn't want to work in an environment that (1) doesn't value my work, (2) and won't give me gurantees. That has nothing to do with Didi but with the general incompetency of our management team.
You can't go public with potential transfer plans and slam them. Even if you're right.
I think Deschamp knows a thing or two more about players than Secco or even Bettega for that matter.
Third, we don't know all that has gone on behind-the-scenes. DD may have been asking for his entire list of players (probably Anelka) and Secco had his list, and was only gonna compromise on a couple (like Mavuba)... DD didn't like some of the compromise players (especially Mesto, apparently) and raised a stink.
What makes you think Secco was compromising on his selection of players? If anythingelse, there are external reasons to think of the exact opposite. Secco has virtually no credibility as in the game in contrast to Didi who succeeded as a player, so he would be more desperate than Deschamp to show his value to the team. Only way he can do that is by taking control of transfer policy. One of the reason there is a director for handling player transfers is to ensure that manager don't know mortage the entire club's future for an immediate success in order to build his own reputation. The irony here is that it is Secco not Deschamp who wanted players of proven quality rather than potential. Do you see picture here? Secco himself is also on the pressure to show immeadiate value to the team, probably more so than Deschamp, so acting on his interests more than the club itself.
Plus, for all we know, DD is one of the reasons Buffon and Trezeguet want to move... they might not think he's "competitive" enough to top Serie A. Of course, they might just be disappointed at both sides.
I haven't yet read or heard a single comment from the playes referring Didi as a reason for their desire to leave. I am surprised that none of them gave public backing to the coach, but only god knows what is really going on in the dressing room right now.
Didi has done what he is required to do. He as a CV as a player and manager. I think he deserves a contract extension, and a bit of increase in wage. The fact that Didi went public shows his desparation of things going behind the scene.
