I saw Ryan Miller get the win against Boston. He was excellent, obviously.
Boston was actually the better team on the night, especially in the second period when we outshot Buffalo 24-8 and also hit two posts. Of course, our fourth line had a fucking pathetic dzone breakdown, where a couple guys nearly ran into each other, and fucking Rivet of all people fired a rocket past Tuukka; turned out to be the eventual the winner.
Both goalies were good. Same old story for Boston; trouble exiting their zone early, tons of chances, no goals. We're absolutely dying for some speed up front... and of course, some wingers who can finish. A lot of people think that because the Bruins can't score, they don't create many chances; this team was actually 7th in the league in shots on goal this season, hard as it is to believe. It's just that nobody can fucking bury this year. 2nd in Goals For last year, 2nd last in Goals For this year. Just ugly.
Anyway, my team played pretty well tonight. Buffalo was OK. The officials... well, that's another story. Didn't turn the game, but they were definitely poor, and blew more than a couple calls. Should be a good series, hopefully it's a long one.
Congratulations Montreal fans, that was truly a hard fought victory. Halak is a fantastic goalie...

I'm not saying my team is going to win this series, Buffalo are obviously the favorites, but Boston was the better team tonight - by quite a bit - and they did win the season series 4-2. We obviously have a bunch of injuries to important guys, but this definitely won't be a walk over.

Miller is obviously the X factor. Quite frankly, without Miller, Buffalo probably finishes 10th in the conference, and out of the playoffs. They're not a great team, by any stretch of the imagination.
Yeah, I don't have a lot of faith in my boys either - at least in terms of the big picture. Just too much going against them right now, they're obviously not a legitimate contender.
But if Buffalo plays the way they did tonight, this depleted Boston team is going to win this series... before promptly losing in round 2.
