    Thanks for the list, Mark.

Lots of nice little potential pickups in there. I like Peca as a 4th line signing for a couple years.

Get rid of Hossa and sign Havlat, plus free up some salary space.

Kessel wasn't going anywhere, especially for Kaberle. Chiarelli should have been shot if that trade went through.
Maybe he's trying to put some pressure on the negotiations, but I saw an interview with Chiarelli, and you could tell by his tone, uncomfortable body language, and the way he danced around the topic, that Phil could legitimately be moved.

At the end of the interview, he did offer the offhand "of course we'll try to get something done," referring to signing Kes.

I'm keeping the faith for now... but you could tell when they questioned him about the failed trade, that some trade talks with Burke had occurred. Pete was REAL uncomfortable... probably pissed that the Leafs leaked it, as well. I wouldn't expect any Bruins/Leafs transactions anytime soon.

As crazy as it sounds, I've heard numbers in the range of 5.5M annually. That's gotta be at least 1.5M too much, and even 4 could be a difficult number to crunch right now.

Funny thing is, I was surfing on some Leafs boards, and a ton of those morons were like "Kessel for Kaberle & the 7? No fucking way... he's so overrated. Just give em the 7" blah, blah, blah. Morons.

Avoid those boards at all costs. "Leaf Nation" is the Arkansas of the NHL.

Can't remember where, but I read that Chelios is gonzo from Detroit... but still interested in the playing...

I saw some talk about the Sedin's here and I just have to say that I would love to see Montreal snap em both up. Have you heard the type of deals they're trying to pry out of Gillis? 12 fucking years, averaging 5.5. or so. Good riddance.

I would never want these boys to be a part of my top line; I've always felt that they would be an excellent second option, but they just aren't top class.

I watch quite a bit of the Canucks, and have seen the twins play live 5 times or so... they really tend to disappear. Consistently. No physical presence, soft, soft, soft. They get a ton of quality minutes, and it's not like they aren't skilled, but I feel like their point production is a little misleading (relative to their impact). On the plus side, they don't miss many games.

Anyway, IMO, committing the type of dollars that these guys will be seeking is salary cap suicide and a sure fire path to mediocrity.

Pens re-sign Guerin for 1 year and Adams for 2 years.

Now we need to get Scooter a new contract and boot Boucher (expensive fucker) and get a replacement for Ruslan.

If they do sign them, that is exactly where they will be, on the 2nd line.

Move Plekanec up to the top line, assuming Koivu doesn't re-sign. Well, even if he does, move him to the third line anyway at this point.

You would have a top line of

    Kovalev/Plekanec/Kositstyn
    Higgins/Sedin/Sedin
    S. Kostitsyn/Koivu/Latendresse
    Kostopolous/Lapierre/D'agostini

I could live with that. This is under the assumption that they don't re-sign Tanguay and Lang, which I doubt they will. If for some reason they decide to re-sign Tanguay and not Koivu, then the lines could be like this

    Kovalev/Plekanec/Kostitsyn
    Tanguay/Sedin/Sedin
    S. Kostitsyn/Higgins/Latendresse
    Kostopolous/Lapiere/D'Agostini

Again, lines I could live with

Something obviously happened, but I'm not sure what it was. Brian Burke has a tendency for shooting his mouth off, so you never know with him.

If you want some good Hockey talk, I suggest you go to Hockey's Future. Great website, and the Forums are really cool as well. Especially if you want to stay up to date on prospects
