The problem for them is that Ryan Whitney is not ready to take that number 1 role on the blue line yet. Maybe they'll deal for a Pronger replacement or pick up someone through free agency.

Probably grab someone in free agency. I'm not saying they're going to challenge in the playoffs, but with them having the Neiderfag brothers and Getzlaf and Perry, they'll still be annoying.

Then in a couple of seasons, like you said, they'll be really really annoying.

I like the Russian in the 4th round. He is a swing for the fences pick. Either he's an all star or out of the league in two years

Loved that pick. I'm sure if the NHL had am agreement with the KHL he would have gone much earlier. Loved every pick. 5th round pick Dumont is a Talbot/Bégin type player. They even traded for the very last pick.

In the second round we signed Landon Ferraro and Tomas Tatar, both 5'11 centers. Hmm, not sure why we did that, but Tatar the Slovak seems to be a pretty good goal scorer. I'm hearing a lot of good stuff about Ferraro as well.

Our other picks were Andrej Nestrasil (Czech, LW), Gleason Fournier (Can, D), Nick Jensen (US, D), Mitchell Callahan (Can, RW).

Mark, do you know anything about Fournier?

Talented offensively, the problem for Gleason Fournier is that he is a defenseman first and foremost, but sometimes he doesn't play like one. Able to make quick decisions with the puck and move it well, he sometimes struggles in his own end, especially when under pressure. A valuable tool on the power play, at 6'0 and 174 pounds, he would benefit tremendously if he can get larger and stronger on his skates in the coming years.

Pretty happy with Boston's pick, Caron seems like a really solid player when healthy, could be a great pickup - from some of the draft boards I read, getting him at 25 is good value. Got some size and a nice release... just hope the history of injuries doesn't become a factor.

Also still happy that Kessel is a Bruin. I don't care if his game is "complete" or not, 36 goals as a 21 year old is impressive, really a massive contribution - especially given the time he missed with mononucleosis. I don't know exactly what the numbers look like, but it would be a shame to lose Kessel. I hope Chiarelli can get creative... doesn't look real good though.

Kessel wasn't going anywhere, especially for Kaberle. Chiarelli should have been shot if that trade went through.

I think that he would take less money to stay here. It would suck to see Captain Courageous in another uniform, but alas, such is life in the NHL
