Lidstrom is the best defenseman since Bobby Orr. Crosby has a long ways to go to being anything close to Lemiuex, Gretzky or Gordie.

But the fact you are mentioning him in the same sentence as the three greatest players of the sport who played for 20 years plus when he is only 21 years old suggests that you know he is a bit special.

I'm just stating an opinion that the press and the NHL make him out to be the second coming of Jesus on skates, simply because they NEED to so that they don't get their asses kicked in the ratings by WWE Raw every week, and its way too much to put on just one person

Canadiens sold to Molson family

The Montreal Canadiens are returning to familiar hands.

George Gillett has sold the storied hockey franchise to the Molson family, Montreal's La Presse newspaper reported Saturday on its website.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman tentatively confirmed the deal when asked about it while in Las Vegas.

"That's what I heard, subject to board approval," Bettman said, adding he thinks the deal is a positive step forward for the franchise.

"I think to the extent that they've been able to find people who are obviously passionate about the game and structure a transaction that makes sense for everybody, that's a real plus for the franchise and the fans in Montreal."

Citing an unnamed source, La Presse reported that Gillett has an agreement in principle with the Molsons, and the sale price is well over $500 million.

Former Habs player and general manager Serge Savard will reportedly have an important role with the team, La Presse said, possibly as an investor.

The Molson family owned the team from 1957-71, and Molson Breweries re-acquired the club for $20 million in 1978. The brewery then sold the team and its arena, the Bell Centre, to Gillett in 2001. Now known as Molson-Coors, the company stayed on as a minority owner of the club, with a 19.9 per cent share, while Gillett owned 80.1 per cent before the sale reported Saturday.

Andrew, Geoffrey and Justin Molson announced that they had fielded an offer for the team and arena on June 11.

Geoffrey Molson is on the team's board of directors, but he has withdrawn from its activities during the sale process.

The Molson family was among several groups vying to buy the Canadiens, including Quebecor, the Solidarity Fund of the Quebec Federation of Labour, and others.

The deal still needs approval from the NHL's board of governors, and a source reportedly told ESPN that the vote will happen mid-summer at the earliest.

A formal announcement is expected later Saturday.

Because that's the way it goes. And yes, it IS (IS IS IS IS IS) a better system than anything in football. It allows the teams who are weak to become better, thus keeping the league from becoming a massive blow out for the best teams.

When they announced his name, the entire crowd started booing him like crazy. They showed a Leafs fan in a jersey going absolutely nuts against the guy.

Also, they showed Burke going up to Ottawa's GM and asking them if they wanted Kadri. The Sens man said yes, we do, and Burke said, "well, we're gonna take him."
