During last year's Stanley Cup Finals, at least my Red Wings were able to do a good job shutting down Malkin and Crosby for the most part. Sometimes they didn't even get a sniff.

The Hurricanes have trouble dealing with those guys every single shift, so it's a joke.

Well it's a year later and Crosby and Malkin are a year older and last year they had very little experience in the playoffs.

Actually Malkin kind of sucked. Hossa was our leader last year.
I wouldn't say that. Malkin had 10 goals 12 assists, Crosby had 6 goals and 21 assists, and Hossa had 12 goals and 14 assists.

He did fine, except for against us. I credit that to the way we were able to squash them as a team, not because Malkin or anybody else "choked".

Malkin's points were scored in the first two round of the playoffs. He hit a wall last season at about this time.

Still I hope your team think it's going to be the same again and underestimate us.

Of course it won't be the same. Different dynamics in the team, and certainly more experience for Malkin and Crosby.

But still, give us credit for shutting them down.

Nobody at our club underestimates anybody. We remember what it was like losing out early to teams such as the Ducks and Flames.

Oh yeah absolutely. The Wings taught us a thing or two last year. Hopefully we've learned from it.

The Hurricanes are making an embarrassment out of the Eastern conference.

6-2 Pens, 3-0 on the Series.

Boston, New York, Carolina... all these clubs are overrated as hell. Only team that deserves respect is Pittsburgh.

Detroit, Anaheim and San Jose would wreck any of these teams, besides the Pens.

This is why I don't really give Boston much props for having the most points during the regular season. The Eastern conference is easier to play in for various reasons, not only because of limited travel time.
    :pado:

The reason Carolina was such an easy target for Pittsburgh, is that they got beat up during two 7 game series.

The reason Boston didn't get past Carolina, is because of inexperience - yes, but also because of injuries.

Hunwick and Ference as I stated before, are 2 of the top 4 D men - They were absent - Ward and Hnidy shouldn't have been playing.

After the series against Carolina, Kessel had surgery on a torn labrum and damaged rotator cuff, and Krejci is having hip surgery. It's possible that neither one will be ready for the start of next season.

So that's their first line RW and their second line center playing with pretty damn significant injuries. I didn't even hear a peep about it - although you could tell that Krejci was definitely waaay off. Those guys are warriors. If Boston had been healthy, I still believe they would have gotten past Carolina (as they really should have anyways). Boston wouldn't have been able to take down Pittsburgh the way the Pens are playing, but it would have been a decent series. Boston actually took the regular season series from the Pens...

As for the comment about Detroit, Anaheim, and San Jose being able to beat the Bruins - that's probably true. They probably would have beaten Boston...

You can say "Boston is overrated" all you like - the simple fact is that they went from 8 to 1 in a season, and that alone deserves props. Look at their top scorers jump in points this season, and think about the fact that a solid contingent either played their first or second year in the NHL this past season. I think they will be considerably better next year - again.

PS - Your Wings have had a nice run, but I have a strong feeling that Crosby and Malkin are not to be denied this year. :spliff:
