Habs close to sign UFA Marc-André Bergeron. We really needed another D after Markov and O'Byrne's injuries. Bergeron has a great slap shot so he could help on the PP. Defensively he's a liability. He's free and if they pay him 0.5/0.7m for one year I won't complain. I've been told he's at the medical stage and if he passes it we'll sign him. Don't know if the source is reliable though.

Bergeron is a free agent?? He's awful defensively though. I know they brought up Yannick Weber, but I would rather that money be spent on a defensive minded defenseman.

Weber can do waht Bergeron can, and is 8 years younger.


Besides, Ryan O'Byrne is now out for 6 weeks.

And in regards to Mathieu Carle, I don't know if he is ever going to make it. He started off really really well last year in Hamilton and then hit the skids big time.

In a perfect world, Alexei Yemelin would have come over from Russia 2 years ago, and would probably be in Montreal's rotation by now.

P.K. Subban is going to be a monster, but not this year.
