With Cassano not being picked by Lippi: I think this is going to be a good test of his character, to see how he reacts to not being selected again by the Azzurri. Will he self-destruct or continue to perform in Serie A? I am curious to see his reaction.
Yeah it will be a good test for him, but he has been omitted from squads in the past and continued to perform so I think he will do so again!

It's the first time I see Lippi making the wrong choice. I know Cassano's difficult and I know it's almost impossible to spend a WC next to him, but if you're playing in Bari you have to play Cassano. Now the pressure on Italy will be immense, just because Lippi wants to make a point.

Just before the Antonio Cassano transfer saga officially starts I think it is only correct to point out a few issues regarding a deal which, in my opinion, would without a doubt prove the incapacity of the managerial duo formed by Alessio Secco and Claudio Ranieri. But first of all let's analyse how negative this tricky deal would be for the four parties involved.

On one side we have Sampdoria, who will make quite a profit by selling Il Talentino, but would at the same time lose the only man capable of leading them to future success with no serious possibility of finding a valid replacement on the market. Cassano seems to have found happiness at Marassi, wouldn't it be worth holding on to him for a little longer?

Then there is Juventus, who would be investing most of their spending money on a player who could theoretically replace Alessandro Del Piero. But the arrival of Cassano would represent a serious threat to the harmony of the Bianconeri dressing room.

Imagine the former Roma player arguing with some of Juve’s finest stars, like he did in the past with Francesco Totti, or just think about the consequences of Cassano throwing his shirt at a referee during a Champions League game – it wouldn't really suit La Vecchia Signora’s style.

Cassano wouldn't benefit from the move either. He has already proved in the past his limit when playing in a top club alongside big players. The competition with Del Piero, David Trezeguet or Amauri would only cause unwanted tension. For someone who places women and food higher than football it would be better to stay in Liguri. Being a protagonist week in week out, training whenever he feels like it and generally acting like the boss in charge.

Ultimately, there is Sebastian Giovinco. His emerging talent has been shining bright in recent weeks and the small youngster just needs more time to prove his worth to the team. He is a Bianconeri born and bred, something of a rarity nowadays, and the arrival of Cassano would only obstruct his growth. Eventually it could make him think over his future at the club and force him to leave the Olimpico. Better to avoid the risk.

In a time when Juve need a wise choice to step up the competition against Inter, signing Cassano would be everything but safe. Pavel Nedved will have to be replaced but by buying someone like Cassano they would simply be moving in the wrong direction.

If the Bianconeri wanted to spend big then why not Franck Ribery or David Silva? If they wanted to opt for a young and promising star then it would be worth making a move for Marek Hamsik. But the list of potential good signings doesn't end there. In Villarreal there is a boy way more professional than Antonio, who is just waiting for a call to return home. Then there is Rafael Van der Vaart on his way out at Real Madrid as well as Wesley Sneijder.

So as you can see it would make no sense for Secco and Ranieri to make a desperate and hefty move for someone like Cassano. To put it Antonio's way it would turn out to be a 'Cassanata', but, as proved in the past transfer market, rational thinking is somehow lacking at the Olimpico these days...

Absolutely do not want this guy if we do not adequately fill Pavel's shoes with someone that plays that same position (silva/ribery). Cassano is just a luxury we can not afford right now.

The only thing he was annoyed by during Euro 2008 was his tactical position on the field.

I would not be a winger again, because that is not my role and there are others who can do it far better than me. I am not suited to be a marathon runner.”

i have to admit, cassano's been in impressive form for samp. so much so, that it's quite unfair he did'nt get a call up from lippi. theres no question he's a divo, but if the guy can consistently bring it in our stripes, i would'nt object to much. However, his attitude is a big question mark and any side willing to gamble on him should seriously weigh the benefits and risks.

personally, i would'nt risk gambling on him considering our limited funds. though i would'nt mind being proven wrong.

All things considered, I dont care what the risks are for a flop at the end (though its exaggerated), for purely for selfish reasons, I WANT to see this every week:

Honestly, as calcio lovers, who wouldnt to take a gamble on THIS?

Breathtaking talent and skills without suspicion but yet suspiciously breathtaking characters and personalities.

What i like most abt him is this guy is a great assist man ...
