I was too young to be aware back then of the importance of following roots to the ground nearest where my blood originates. I saw Kohler's intimidating tash, Julio Cesar's gangly dhalsim-esque legs, Moller's fearsome nazi posture and simply knew that Juve were for me.

It took me a few more years to get into english football, and by then, I was aware of the importance amongst supporters of having a grass roots link to your team. That is when I began following the steady misfortune of Gillingham Footbal Club.

Essentially, I have no problem with people from far away from their team's base, supporting that team. What matters to me is that their support is constant and unwavering. That they know the team, the club, its recent history, and preferably some of its former history.

I would much rather have a decent conversation with a Manchester United supporter from Brighton, who knows what he is talking about, than exchange words with a Mancunian who 'supports' Man U, but whose knowledge doesn't extend further than 'We are the best!'.

What matter is loyalty, passion and knowledge. And given my support for juventus stretches back to the early 90s, when I was 11-12 years old, I do consider myself a true Juventino.
You've got to be kidding me. You say all this, but you don't know it's Ale, not Sandro? Dear God.

Loyalty and passion imply knowledge anyway.

funny thing that is, i am full sicilian and have supported juve from birth just as my whole family has. in sicily juve has an immense fan base. but i do like to see palermo and catania do well. but against juve i dont :p

Really!?! what part of sicily? im half siciliano. my side of sicily comes from caltanisetta in a big town called mussomeli. its virtually central of sicily. Often go to agrigento to visit my cousins not to mention the rough ports of gela.

No definitely, i agree. I mean you're talking to a Libyan who was raised in Glasgow, lives in the UAE and supports Arsenal :p
Aha! that would explain the Gaddafi photo as your avatar, mate...I would be very interested in learning more about Libya, not in terms of football but politics and the general current state of play there. So, if you feel forthcoming enough, please feel free, obliged even, to send me a private message to educate me about a country I know very little about.

hey mate what part of melbourne are you from? and also where in sicily :p
I was born in moonee ponds, though have spent the majority of my life in England, predominantly in the South. Probably around 8 years in Australia, mainly Melbourne, though also a fair portion in Hervey Bay where my father lives...As for my Sicilian blood, it comes from siracusa...I haven't been there but have spent time in Naples with the family of a close friend who I met in England when he was a cleaner of a supermarket. He taught me basic italian, how to cook in the southern italian style, and also revealed much to me about the Comorra, some of whom I have met in Cassoria when I have stayed there with my mate's family...An interesting chap, and area, by all measures.

Presently, I am holed up in an 8th floor inner city flat on flinders street, complete with my long suffering, from over exposure to me, british nymph and pet maltese shitsu wolverine, Oscar...And yourself, mate*** Perhaps if we progress in the champions league, we could meet for a few pints to enjoy the games together and scream abuse at Molinaro***

Sure thing mate, what exactly do you want to know about my great country? :D

Where abouts were you raised in Glasgow? Bit of a culture change from the UAE!
Understatement of the century ;)

This was a long time ago, iirc the area was called Sterling Fold Place or something like that, i think its close to the city center.
